Welcome to the May Fledgling FLYers thread! :-)
... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent.

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.
[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on. Thanks to SC, Blue, Silvery and Goth for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

Trazzletoes · 21/05/2013 15:12

I've lost my mojo too. But then I'm not completely certain I ever had it...

CHBitchy · 21/05/2013 15:48

I use chrome for other stuff. Might add firefox. I need two completely different browsers open at a time for stuff that gets done here that really really can not be done in the same browser.

DorisShutt · 21/05/2013 15:59

Firefox is safer than IE and does have an adblocker option - I'll ask DH tonight about the best one. Know what you mean though, I have FF & Chrome at work - one for work & one for personal (and which is set to destroy history and eat passwords at 5pm every night paranoid? Moi? )

ToffeeWhirl · 21/05/2013 16:03

I'm on Firefox and the bloody ads are still there! Argh. It makes it impossible to concentrate. Will see if there's a thread.

I don't like Chrome. Both my DC use it, but it annoys me. I feel at home on Firefox.

Feet - arf at you blow-drying a sock Grin.

Not such a great day. DS1 was anxious and in a state. He ended up deliberately tipping a whole mug of (luckily, lukewarm) tea all over his head, soaking himself, his clothes and the chair cover . Then he put himself to bed and slept for over two hours. Am not sure if he is sickening (my bug made me very tired), feeling anxious/depressed, being a teenager or all three. I think talking about going back to school is getting to him as well.

Anyway, I had a whole lot of extra washing to deal with and now I can't get the tea stains out of the chair cover Angry.

I really can't stay here with the Karcher thing moving all the time. Hope it goes away soon.

CHBitchy · 21/05/2013 16:07

I have reported Feet's post about migraines and added it is not great for mine either saying it is a health hazard. (sorry feet just thought it would be a good way to get issue noticed) Please linky a thread and I will happily come stomp my displeasure toffee

ToffeeWhirl · 21/05/2013 16:36

Thanks for doing that, Bitchy. There's also a thread about it here.

ToffeeWhirl · 21/05/2013 16:38

Seems to only happen in 'Good Housekeeping' topics.

I will never buy a Karcher hoover Angry.

CHBitchy · 21/05/2013 18:38

Castle - was doing some emergency fitting tweaks to a dress for a friend.

that advert is really pissing me off now. I want to twat the person who has managed to split is so the left half is on the rhs and the right half is on the lhs. it is making me irrationally stabby

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/05/2013 19:13

I have been trying unsuccessfully to post on this thread for the last couple of hours on the Mac and been unable to due to the Karcher ad and the fact that the message box is not coming up (other threads are fine). I have posted on the complaint thread. It is fine on this Ipad (DH's) but haven't been able to load the thread on my Ipad from day 1, all very irritating.

Anyway, back later.

Swanhilda · 21/05/2013 19:37

hi all,

boring post to say I've done the multitudinous recycling
found a home for the last kitten (but they are all still here looking so cuddly and at home SadSmile!!!)
washed four loads of washing
started digging a hole for the raspberry plants and gave up (garden is like rock face)
taken two boys to family therapy where they bonded in regarding therapist as a bore....Hmm
dd has a big part in Hairspray, and ds2 a good part so all happy
and Ds1 has been to football

Ds2 wet his bed today (boo)
and no-one seems to be doing any academic work whatsoever despite ds1 having exams this week - I think a summery feeling has enveloped us..

House very messy still, but slowly getting through the 2 months backlog of accumulated sorting out after house renovations. Smells of cat pee though!

Quick waves to all.

No real flying done today but have hopes for tomorrow. Did manage to clear some stationery and computer related clutter yesterday though.

Glad you had a good day Narky.

May go and join the throng complaining about the Karcher ad now...

Castlelough · 21/05/2013 23:22

Oh dear! People seem to either be suffering from CBA syndrome here today or frustrated by the flashing Karcher ad! Just basic routines somewhat done here today. Am also suffering from CBA.....Nite!

LINKS FOR WEDNESDAY 22nd MAY

We are now in Zone 4 The Master Bedroom. We are decluttering, or detailed cleaning, in this zone for 15 minutes a day.

Babystep 22 is to begin to build your own Control Journal. Flylady has 15 steps for you to follow?

The Daily Focus for Wednesday is Anti-Procrastination.

Today?s Misson is to dust off the tops of the door and window frames.

The Flight plan for our daily routines, should update automatically.

Finally, the habit for the month of May is to get Moving!

CHBitchy · 22/05/2013 09:30

That advert is still there!!!

ToffeeWhirl · 22/05/2013 11:21

OMG, yes it is! I can't believe it.

DS1 is sick and in bed sleeping so no home ed today. Am going to have to go and do some housework instead of Mumsnetting Angry.

GoingGoingGoth · 22/05/2013 11:29

Just checking in, definately got a "it's sunny so CBA" feeling today.

Wash basket is practically empty, so not doing any of that.
Really CBA to bake, we have plenty of fresh fruit.
Flat is in a reasonable condition, and as my windows frame tips are 3m from floor I'm not dusting them! May flick a duster around the door tops.

Heading back to working on website, as it ballsed up yesterday.

Big waves to everyone, BBL.

ToffeeWhirl · 22/05/2013 11:34

Thanks to Doris and her helpful DH on another thread, I have just down downloaded this to block ads on Firefox and the Karcher ads have vanished Grin.

HTH.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/05/2013 11:44

I've just installed Adblock on my Safari and got rid of it too. Ill be switching over to the Windows laptop in a minute and will see how I get on there.

Ironically, Flying wise I have just spent an enjoyable 45 minutes pressure washing my patio furniture with a Karcher......

ToffeeWhirl · 22/05/2013 12:04

WhoKnows - are you on commission for Karcher?!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/05/2013 12:15

No, but think I ought to be!

ToffeeWhirl · 22/05/2013 12:23
Grin
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/05/2013 12:29

testing from another computer

superfluouscurves · 22/05/2013 12:43

Hullo everyone. Karcher's dancing on the screen here too.

Nowt much to report. Getting dd ready for school trip, so naming sleeping bag, sleeping bag's bag, underlay, rucksack, every item of clothing, face cloth etc etc yawn yawn yawn. Not helped by builders down the street who sprayed us (unintentionally) with droplets of concrete-laden liquid as we came home, so now have to wash dd's coat as well. Hope it dries in time.

Am sulking very childishly in the presence of dh, who, instead of taking advantage of the fact that dd is away for the night tomorrow for the first time in ages, has decided to go away on a business trip. Oh well, at least I get the remote control to myself... .

I shouldn't be horrible, to be fair to him, he is under horrible stress with three hideous dead-lines at the office. It's just that the stress pervades everywhere else as well. And you kind of say to yourself "when will it ever end?" knowing that, it won't. Ever. Sad

House (downstairs at least) is looking surprisingly spick and span. [How did that happen? Shock] First floor not so great, but improving slightly.

Trying to do missions but like Goth I cba to haul and climb ladders today.

Sorry your ds1 is ill today Toffee (although, as you guessed, explains melt-down yesterday) Hope tea stains come out - have you tried Vanish (ordinary bar + elbow grease = works on most 'organic' things) sorry to sound like an advert

Same re: your dd Trazzles (glad to hear you have your mother's support, though I can imagine the need for "alone time" -not that I imagine you will be getting much of that atm -is also strong) Thinking of you on those hospital visits x

Glad you had a good b'day Narky. Any joy at Ikea? [nosy emoticon]

Swan think the cleaning-up prior to, and post, renovations is almost as bad as the actual renovations themselves

Arf at blow drying sock Feetheart!! Grin Brilliant!!

Hope you find your mo-jo Doris!! And anyone else who has lost theirs. Mine deserts me on a regular basis [SC pictures lots of little hairy legs wearing doc martens (for some reason) Confused disappearing over the horizon] Grin

Big stonking waves to Castle Whoknows Bitchy Pushme Silvery Fireandblood Engels Newbie Blue PA Honu Just JdubEllie anyone I've forgotten (especially newcomers - (sorry) )

Right, strong coffee, then back to àç!è§( name tapes ...

And sorry for whinging as usual Grin
