Clingfilm BORING ALERT

Apologies for what is, no doubt, THE most boring question!
Hence, its brevity.
IS there a clingfilm that won't drive me TOTALlY insane by getting tangled up or by the end of its re-fillable box breaking - rendering it so useless and annoying that I want to chuck it through the kitchen window?

Lakeland have a blue plastic dispenser thst you put the roll in, chuck away the box. It is compact and fits in a drawer easily.

You want the Baco Easy Cut Cling Film Dispenser. You can buy them in Sainsburys or that other place.

The cling film comes in a sturdy plastic container instead of cupboard. Its a little more expensive but the refills are normal price.

I simply stopped using it and bought click-lock boxes/microwave plate covers/etc instead

I only use it for covering bowls of dough while rising, my last roll lasted 15 years. The Lakeland dispenser is very good though.

I have had the Baco one for ages.
Only had to replace it when DS2 smashed it on the floor.

Back is my pet peeve at the moment. I never break it (of course), but when I'm at work my childminder manages to ... and if she doesn't manage to, my husband bloody well will! Lol

Mission: Lakeland box - sort drawers, put into drawers. Done. Yeah!

OP I was asking myself the very same question earlier this evening. Last year my parents got us a GIANT roll from CostCo and I got The Rage every time I had to use it. Which was a lot, because it was so bloody huge.

Has anyone discovered a brand that actually clings? I've tried various recently and they're so useless, I swear cling film was clingier when I was a girl!

My DM said something about this the other day. She bought a different type of cling film which has perforations, so you rip off what you want and get a clean cut, and it doesn't get all twisted. I can't remember which one it was though.

Oh it's all in the technique. Make sure you pull the cling film downward along the face of the side with the teethy bits, and then slightly underneath the package, so 1. it gets a cleaner cut and 2. the cling film left open will 'stick' to that 'wall of cardboard', ready to go again.

Am sure there'll be a VideoJug on youtube somewhere...

It's not my technique that as the problem as I'm a bit of a control freak pro! It's the fact that the box is bully and broken by others when I'm at work, etc. 😙

Baco gets dropped (husband and childminder), breaks and rendered 'throw-at-a-wall-able'.
Thank you for perforated tip - yes I will be going to Lakeland!
As for clingy clingfilm: they have one in America that doesn't even need to be sealed. Adheres instantly. Incredible.

I take the clingfilm out of the box and bin the box. Use clingfilm as normal and use a knife to score along it so it can be torn in the right place. The end doesn't get lost or tangled. I think the choppy edge of the box is the problem.

I seem to remember that cling film changed from being super clingy to not very clingy when it was rumoured to be carcinogenic. Then you got different types of cling film, including one that was for microwaving with only. I don't think there are diff types now....but yes, agree that using cling film on some bowls is pointless as its doesn't stick at all.

M&S do a perforated cling film, think it's described as non pvc wrap. It's reasonably clingy and about £2.

Take it out of the box, keep it in the fridge and it unrolls better, then cut it off with a knife.
