Dog Hair!

Hi,

Can anyone give me any tips on getting rid of really thick ground in dog hair from a carpet?

It is actually in a caravan not a house, I work with caravans and have a beautiful caravan here ready to sell, I have cleaned it all out and noticed a lot of black staining on the carpet (looked like oil) after a full investigation it is not stains or oil but thick ground in black dog hair.

My dyson will not shift it at all which I am really surprised about even with the pet hair attachment.

I'm kind of at a loss how to remove it now, I need to get it all up before I use MILs rug doctor on it.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

No idea but maybe a comb or a really coarse brush to lift the hair a little from being ground into the carpet andnthen vacuum again?

A Rug Doctor probably won't do anything but make the hair wet.

They sell rubber carpet brushes that can help get the hair to the surface where it can be hoovered.

Alternatively, buy a huge roll of masking tape and use it to pick up the hair.

Both of these will require a lot of crawling around the floor.

Get a squeegee, the kind you would use for a window. Get down on hands and knees and rub the squeegee hard over the carpet, drawing ot towards you, until it starts to come up in long tumbleweedy clumps. This will take a bit of time depending on the size of your carpeted area.

Get a dog grooming brush when you are finished. It's easier to keep a dog groomed with a good brushing every day than to do the squeegee thing.

Rubber carpet brushes are good too.

I was going to say rubber brush too. My mum used the sole of an old trainer to get the cat hair off the stairs!
