thinking of investing in a dehumidifier, i dry clothes on the landing so i thought this would be a great place for it. what i am wondering is, my downstairs shower room, even with the fan on and window open during and after the shower is used remains very moist ie black mould at the roof height.
would i need to get a specific small one especially for the shower room or would the one on the landing work its magic there too. i have been looking on argos so there are small ones availabe. any advice would be appreciated. thanks in advance

if you are using an extractor fan, the door and window of the bathroom should be shut so that it can create suction. Fresh air will enter through the gap under the door.

If the fan does not seem to work, get a smoker to hold their disgusting fag under it and see if the smoke is sucked out and can be smelt outside.

We have the small delonghi aria. Use it after a shower and for drying clothes, it has a laundry option. I'd recommend it definitely. Takes a couple of hours to dry out the bathroom and 8hrs to dry clothes. It takes a couple of litres every couple of days out of the air, the house is warmer and no condensation.

Our dehumidifier is the Ebac 2650e. It has a variety of settings for different moisture levels as well as a sensor. It's in our conservatory/kitchen and senses when I'm cooking or if someone's had a shower upstairs and there's more moisture in the air. It's been invaluable for keeping windows condensation free.

On our recommendation, my brother and his wife bought one last year and also rave about it. They have a bungalow and it's in their hall. It tackles the moisture from their bathroom (which is almost in constant use with 3 teenage daughters) as well as their kitchen.

We got ours from Argos.
