Steam cleaner users - help! Mine's not working... any ideas?

DH bought a hand held Electrolux Steam gun. It has sat in a cupboard being ignored as quite frankly I have more to do until about 6 months ago when I got it out to use on floor grout. Great success, but it suddenly stopped working - it gets very hot and steam is defibitely being produced when you unscrew the top cap, but absolutelt nothing coming out of the nozzle.

I though maybe it was an overheat safety shut off or something so I packed it away again, until today. But still nothing - I push the trigger and just nothing even though it's definitely heating up. Any ideas how to clean the nozzle?

I can't see any way to take it apart. I've unscrewd the 2 little screws under the rubber part at the top but I still couldn't take the top off or get at the nozzle in any way.

I've got the opposite problem in that I can't get the safety lock to shut down the steam & have just had to buy a new trigger & hose mechanism! (It's a big expensive steam cleaner so getting rid wasn't an option)

Possibly scale - I use something called Kalstop in mine to stop it furring up. Does it say anything in your manual about whether you can use a descaler in the tank? You could try & soak the nozzle in white vinegar?

I've tried turning it on with some descaler in the 'tank' but will have a go sticking the nozzle end in some descaler too. Although if it scales up after the first half hour of use it's going to be fairly useless

Have just scrubbed the floor on hands and knees with a scourer and Fairy Power Spray and it looks like new!

I have a long pin with my steam cleaner which I'm meant to poke in the steam hole after every use to unblock it and keep it free from limescale.

A paperclip or a sewing pin would do just as well.
