Decent firm pillows...

Our pillows have been around a long time, they are great, very comfortable, but the innards are starting to come apart so they are getting lumpy. They are Dunlopillo Latex pillows. Heinously expensive to replace it seems!

So, can any recommend a good quality but not so expensive firm pillow that will hold its plumpness and shape.... I need to be able to order on line, I am miles from any decent stores that would stock this stuff.

I'd be prepared to spend £30-£40 on a pair of pillows, I can't stretch to any more. Dunlopillo ones are £50 EACH.

You seem to love your current pillows from your post, so tbh, my advice is just to replace them with the same. I faced this exact dilemma last year and I have to say that in the end I went for another Dunlopillo. I love the way they mould to my head, but are still firm. I've slept on Dunlo's for over twenty years now. You spend the biggest single part of your day lying on a pillow so it's crucial that you are happy with it. At a ten year life span it's only £5 a year - a pittance for a good nights sleep. Buying cheaper alternatives that won't last as long and most importantly won't give you the comfort and experience you want is a complete false economy. I take my pillow everywhere we go to stay, including most hotels.

I came on this thread to recommend the Dunlopillo. Anything cheaper and you'll probably end up having to replace them far more often. Worth spending out imo.

I think you are right!!! I did conclude that this morning, after having "slept on it" as it were - they are soooo comfy, even after 10 odd years, they are fantastic, just the insides are starting to come apart a bit so not quite as smooth as they used to be. I cannot BARE a flat thing that doesn't give you that ahhhhhh factor when your head hits it!

I will keep my eyes peeled for any deals and pounce on a pair when I can. The old ones will be fine as the bottom set of pillows, but need a nice new pair for our top ones!

I replaced my Dunlopillo Super Comfort ones last year - I bought a new pair on eBay for under £80 inc postage.

Purplefrog - I don't know which "model" my current Dunlopillos are, they just say Latex on the fabric label. Are the Super Comfort ones firm or soft just out of interest? Thanks. Am definitely going to check ebay.

According to the John Lewis website for Dunlopillo Super Comfort:

This firm, supportive pillow is made from natural latex and in non-allergenic. The cover is made from 80% polyester, 20% cotton and can be removed for washing. 40cm x 71cm.

5 year guarantee.

Sounds like the one I need then! Thanks so much, I am off to research a bit more and look out for a good deal for a pair!

Ooh, I love my Dunlopillo! Have had it for years, they do last well, so I think it would be a good investment to buy them again.
