I live in New Zealand and am going to Melbourne Australia for a long weekend and am very excited that I'll have access to Ikea for the first time in a long time! (Since our London days in fact). A couple of questions ... I remember the Ikea garlic crusher we had in the UK was very good, but can't remember which one it was. The website shows two, a metal handle and a black plastic handle one, which one's better? And what are your favourite Ikea kitchen products, any 'must-haves'? Thanks!

Cheese grater which collets the cheese in a storage box
Kilner jars
Bendy chopping boards

In other areas, I love love love the Trofast storage units

But the trofast won't fit in an overhead locker :o

Thanks RikersBeard, I'll look them up on the website now. (In other news .. I never start threads so am just excited to have a response!)

Give yourself a whole day Londonkiwi. Both Melbourne stores are absolutely vast, like a theme park for homelovers. Kids stuff is amazing, also textiles, storage, kitchenware, lighting and the Swedish food!

Antilop highchair. Coffee pods. Cheese grater.

We have NZ friends we have just introduced to IKEA. Happy days :)

I've had an Ikea pepper grinder for about 15 years. I keep on buying swankier ones and they clog up, bits fall off, and I always revert to my trusty old Ikea one. It's the one with glass at the bottom and an opaque top. And the matching spice jars - not as they match, but they're really well designed and functional. And I have a lot of spices.

I also think the ceramicy stuff is really good value - plates, espresso cups etc - although they're not really plane-friendly.

The washing up brush with the suction on one end is a must have for me. Infact I buy a couple as I love them so much.

The kids stuff is just lovely - they have lovely glove puppets, I would buy a dozen for presents!
