Urgh - beetles

I've just discovered what I think is a number of biscuit beetles in a kitchen cupboard.

Going to throw out the food & thoroughly clean the cupboards, but does anyone know of a kitchen safe bug spray to smoosh any that I don't dislodge.

Or is there anything else I should do. Urgh, urgh, urgh, I know it's silly, but the idea of going back in there is making my skin crawl Blush

Also, I have found previous threads on this, but no mention of a magic chemical to sort it out...and am crossing my fingers there actually is one Grin

you can get an "ant and crawling insect spray" that you apply to hard surfaces, it dries to a sort of lacquer that they take in through contact, and of course you can get the spray into cracks. You are not suppose to put it on surfaces used for the preparation of food, but inside a cupboard, behind and underneath kitchen units, under skirting boards, behind the fridge and cooker, you are not going to be eating it, and the food will be inside packets so not in contact with the treated surfaces. You will be taking the food out to clean and spray the cupboards, and not refilling until dry. It will lead re-treating each time after you wash the floor or cupboards. Take extra care to clean up spillages of food and drink especially around pet bowls. You may want to put dry goods in biscuit tins or tupperware boxes until the beetles have gone.

"Dethlac" is the oldest brand, but you can get much cheaper own-brand equivalents in hardware stores and supermarts. The sprays are cleaner in use than powders.

the squeeze-trigger spray bottles are bigger, cheaper, and easier to control than aerosols. It is safe for children and pets once dry (read the instructions)
