Good towels, now White Co are shite co?

Where oh where can I get some lovely fluffy and long lasting white towels? I'd saved a discount for the White Company but thankfully looked on here and saw I'd be wasting my time.

Any recommendations would be great, though will probably have to order them online, and live in the Westcountry so we don't have Primark!

We've got some nice White Co towels (although the ones I recently bought are slate and not white) which are nice and fluffy. Must have missed something.

JOhn Lewis? We've had some from there since our wedding 8 years ago, still going strong. Think it was their 'hotel' range.

The secret of fluffy towels is a tumble dryer though, not which towels you buy.

Weirdly BHS comes out top in the Good Housekeeping tests.

DewDr0p · 27/02/2013 16:37

I've always found John Lewis pretty good

TKMaxx

White towels never stay white forever, whichever ones you buy or whatever you wash them in. I'd give up on white and invest in some Dylon. Then you'll have newer looking towels without having to be wasteful and replace them all.

John Lewis , Christy or M and S

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/02/2013 19:19

John Lewis?

Auntie-in-law has the softest towels ever. Primark.

Tk Maxx are good too.

Lifesagame · 27/02/2013 19:21

We've had bath towels and hand towels from Ikea and they're brilliant. Really soft and thick and wash well.

stealthsquiggle · 27/02/2013 19:23

Agree ikea ones are surprisingly nice and have lasted well too.

For keeping them white, boil washing and tumble drying - not environmentally defensible, but it works.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 28/02/2013 15:26

Bhs and John Lewis are safe bets ans have lasted well here but surprisingly though my favourite towels are from Primark!Grin

LadySybilPussPolham · 28/02/2013 17:47

Another Ikea fan here. We've got some quite old 'ribbed' towels which have never snagged and still look very respectable. They also don't have that band at each end that most towels have, that can shrink in the tumble drier. Hope that makes sense!

fussychica · 28/02/2013 18:55

There's a Primark in Yeovil if that's any use.

Hate soft towels - line dried crisp for me, tumble drying seems to reduce absorbency.

John Lewis Egyptian Cotton are wonderful...

Another vote for BHS ones. I've got/had loads of towels and the BHS ones are by far the best. My current ones are probably about 5 years old and are still so fab and fluffy.

NeverBeenToMe · 01/03/2013 20:16

My favourite towel - that the DDs use at their peril - is from Dunelm. Although before that would always go for BHS. My ex FIL used to advise soaking news towels overnight in a bath of cold water to improve absorbancy. Not sure if it ever made much difference though!

NeverBeenToMe · 01/03/2013 20:17

*new towels!

Karbea · 01/03/2013 20:31

neverbeen I got some towels from dunelm in an emergency panic, and I'd say they are the nicest ones we have.

NuclearStandoff · 02/03/2013 20:49

We gor our towels from Harrods (own brand) as wedding present 13 years ago. Expensive but still in great condition.

Otherwise I would always go for John Lewis.
