Apologies if this has been covered before - I'm sure it must have been. My IKEA rug - kilim-style, flatweave, not especially precious but quite nice - has got to the point where it needs a professional clean (it's not filthy dirty
but has a light background so gets grubby annoyingly easily).
I've tried the Chem-dry stuff you buy in an aerosol tube, also the carpet dry-cleaning powder, but it's really just too big to spot-clean and it needs a properly thorough cleaning by someone who knows what they're doing, unlike me
Anyone know the best way to go about this? One local firm which uses 'special circular cleaning technology'
has refused to touch it because it doesn't have a pile and apparently it should be dry-cleaned, but the firms round me don't dry-clean rugs. Other firms offer to treat valuable oriental rugs but it isn't an heirloom in any way, just a bog-standard one, and I don't think it merits paying ££££££ to do.
Can anyone point me in a good direction to try? It's starting to feel like one of those things that should be easy to sort out but is becoming a pain.
