Probably dimwitted question re: rug cleaning

Apologies if this has been covered before - I'm sure it must have been. My IKEA rug - kilim-style, flatweave, not especially precious but quite nice - has got to the point where it needs a professional clean (it's not filthy dirty Blush but has a light background so gets grubby annoyingly easily).

I've tried the Chem-dry stuff you buy in an aerosol tube, also the carpet dry-cleaning powder, but it's really just too big to spot-clean and it needs a properly thorough cleaning by someone who knows what they're doing, unlike me

Anyone know the best way to go about this? One local firm which uses 'special circular cleaning technology' Hmm has refused to touch it because it doesn't have a pile and apparently it should be dry-cleaned, but the firms round me don't dry-clean rugs. Other firms offer to treat valuable oriental rugs but it isn't an heirloom in any way, just a bog-standard one, and I don't think it merits paying ££££££ to do.

Can anyone point me in a good direction to try? It's starting to feel like one of those things that should be easy to sort out but is becoming a pain.

Can't you just hire a rug doctor Confused

I did try one, but it didn't do much. Also, because it's a flatweave, it's a headache to get wet in situ, iyswim. Getting it dry is such a headache, that's why I was hoping some firm would take it away and deal with it, then bring it back nice and clean!

I would wait until a really hot day in the summer and clean it in the garden with Ecover washing liquid before leaving out for the rest of the day to dry.

I guess that would be one way to go.....and might work. But it's a long way to summer!
