Can anyone recommend a ^really^ hardcore floor cleaner?

I have wooden floors, a big dog and a toddler. Normal mopping never seems to get all the deeply ingrained dirt out. What can I use to get it really lovely and clean. I'm prepared to get down on my knees for this one Grin

marks place

2 big dogs, muddy paws and a crawling baby are driving me insane!! doesn't help that it's been raining for days.

Grin My washing machine decided to die while I was washing the dog's towels yesterday so now I can't even attempt to clean him off!

Watching with interest!!

Two big dogs, two toddlers....filthy floors :)

Have tried microfibres mops, every floor cleaner under the sun and currently use the vax steam mop that uses detergent too and I'm still not happy with how clean my floors are. They would definitely not pass the white sock test.

I find bleach and a scrubbing brush work wonders on my tiled floors, but that is hard work and time consuming and the results don't last that long. Would be too harsh on my wood floors wouldn't it?

I think there is probably no answer to this but I wish I had floors that didn't make me wince when people come in in white socks!

Knee pads.

Seriously.

Get down on your hands and knees and scrub the floors once in a while. Use whatever cleaner you like/is appropriate for your floor. Scrub with a brush with one hand and then wipe the scrubbed spot with a microfibre cloth in the other hand.

PipCarrier you already do this? Well, I think that's about all you can really do.

In between proper scrubbing, another thing you can do is wet mop with a string-style mop, then throw down an old bath towel and "schooch" it all over the floor to dry it and wipe up. That will remove a lot of dirt.

Hoover every day. Do a microfibre mop every day. Do a good wet mop and schooch once a week and scrub at least once a month.

Another thing to do is to invest in some good-quality mats for your entry doors. Catch a lot of the dirt before it's tracked in.

My problem is the only way out to my back garden is out the livingroom patio doors, so if its been raining the floor gets covered in paw marksHmm and with a crawling baby that's not good.

lovesgsd same here with ridiculous layout of house and very muddy garden. Thankfully both my kids are walking ow but I can feel your pain as I've been there twice!!

So basically, there is o short cut to the hard work of scrubbing on my hands and knees!! Wonder if it would wreck my wooden floors though?!

I think it's OK, provided you use appropriate chemicals and don't leave the floor wet, but dry it when you're done.

I think I'm a little bit in love with Katy, she just said what I suspected, there is no one-stop, done forever solution - just keep scrubbing Thanks
