Hi,

We are in the middle of having our kitchen done and need to buy a new full size dishwasher.

We currently have a slimline dishwasher which works fine but for a family of 4 is on easily twice a day plus my big pans and played dont fit. Plus is doesn't clean glasses/cups on top rack very well. Me are removing and cleaning the arms once a week which helps.

We are on a water meter and obviously I want something that is economical but really all I want is something I can fit all my dishes and pans into and that they come out clean.

Budget wise the ones I've been looking at have been around the £300 mark. Lots of sales on at the mo Grin

we have a Bosch Logixx - very quiet and effective

ilovepowerhoop · 24/01/2013 13:01

p.s. it has a cutlery tray at the top of the machine rather than taking up space in the bottom rack

SandyChick · 24/01/2013 13:09

Thanks, will have a look.

Def get a Bosch.

motherofvikings · 24/01/2013 13:31

Bosch here too. :)
Had it 3yrs now. Normal cycle is v long 2h+ but I only really use the Eco cycle which is 30 mins. It gets everything clean no problem including mash potato pans etc.
It coped v well with baby bottles, weaning crap etc.

get a Bosch (Siemens are the same)

Lowest price Bosch Which best buy is SMS40A02GB, scored 77%. about £330
Is still listed but not widely available so may have been discontinued.

77% is very near the top of the best buy table.

Next lowest price Bosch Best Buy is Bosch SMS40A08GB at £369, and Bosch
SMS53A12GB at £375, both also scored 77%

dikkertjedap · 24/01/2013 20:13

Bosch A++ rated one. Quiet, water and energy efficient, and one of the faster ones.

PigletJohn · 24/01/2013 20:43

I have a newish Siemens (they jointly own, with Bosch, the BSH company which designs and builds Bosch and Siemens Household appliances) and it has various energy and water saving features, including variable sensors which detect how dirty the water is, and therefore how long and how intensive a wash it needs.

They tend to be centred a bit more upmarket though. You may find one in the sales. Check back to ask if it has been rated by Which.

If your budget is about £300, a simple model from a reliable maker will last better than a fancy one from a less well-made brand.

PigletJohn · 24/01/2013 21:15

the Bosch SMS40C02GB is widely on sale at £289, but it only scored 56% on Which test and is not a best buy.

the Bosch SMS40C12GB at £340 scored 68%

SandyChick · 24/01/2013 22:23

Thanks everyone.

I liked the idea of a top tray for cutlery rather than a rack- Does anyone have this?

Also should have said I need an integrated dishwasher.

I've looked at loads of reviews and videos. Think I need to have a look In real life. Would it be crazy to take a dinner plate in by handbag so I can test that they fit GrinGrinGrin

I think it's very sensible to take a plate. Also a stemmed glass?

Are you sure you want integrated? Bit of a pain if it leaks and you have to take all the kick boards off.
