Recommend me a washing machine

Never seem to buy a very good one! Looking for one that can take a large load and a quickwash cycle. happy to more for a decent one

LG direct drive are excellent.

second Beko. i have one and its brill - at least a load a day, more on weekends. Large capacity, great everyday quick wash which is my default programme.

I got a Miele one about 5 years ago - do 2 washes a day normally. Bought this one as it used the least water and electric and on 2 washes a day this soon adds up ! It has a quick wash about 30 mins and I wash loads on this as they come out clean. I'd buy another.

I want this one. Retails Appliances/ISE Appliances/ISE W256W Washing Machine.html here. Easier and cheaper to get parts and labour than a miele once the warranty runs out, but as warranty is 10 years and included in price you get your moneys worth.

Best washing machine I have had is my BEKO. I have had Indiset/whirlpool/Bosch and yet my BEKO has lasted the longest. I have four children and do two/three washes a day, each day. I expect each washing machine to last one year - the BEKO, three years on, is still working! I am thrilled as it was really really cheap.

It does all you ask for, some times, occassionally if my half load is a bit too full/dirty - I might need to do a rinse programme just to get it all out.

But if you cant afford a Miele (which I hear nothing but good things about) then my 7lb (or is it kilogram) BEKO is the boss.

LG direct drive , big load and you can programme it to do whatever . Absolutely brilliant and it sings a little tune to let you know it's finished .

Never a Beko, they are total rubbish products and if their washing machines are anything like their rubbish fridge/freezers they will probably go on fire.

I've got this Hotpoint Aqualtis. I love it, it is a 11kg wash drum and a 1600spin, so I have cut down how often have to do a load and to comes out really dry!

We always have had Bosch in the past, but were really disappointed with the last one, it only I lasted just over 3 years and cost over £500! FIL used to work for them so stripped it back to fix it and said they aren't made as well anymore, the parts are really cheap and nasty but have a premium price tag. The part we needed was nearly £300 but he didn't think it was worth doing so we scrapped it! When He needed a new one he bought a John Lewis one.

Most Bosch machines are now made in Spain - in fact I think they are Spanish machines but with a Bosch label (we have a dead basic Bosch dishwasher & our Spanish holidays house last year had the identical machine apart from the brand )

However the top range ones (Logixx) are still made in Germany - I think...

Not Bosch or Hoover!

mine washes really well & no-problems-so-far-touch-wood

it's a much bigger machine than my previous one (which was 6kg I think) & is really heavy & solid

Call me old fashioned- but we've got a John Lewis own brand one- amazing, and still going strong 6 years on (probably not that impressive- but compared to most things I've bought it's done well!)

Ours was a Logixx Ponders!

my old one was a cheapy Bosch (about £250, can't remember which xx name it had, maybe Classixx) & that lasted 5-6 years with no probs - but then it had an expensive prob, hence new one

I'll just have to keep fingers crossed that I'm luckier with mine than you were with yours!

I have the ISE recommended up thread. It was expensive but it has a 10 year warranty. I got fed up of Hotpoints etc only lasting a few years. So far so good...

get a Bosch, or a Miele if you can afford it.

The top-of-the-range models are no better made or reliable than the basic ones, and as they are more complicated, they have more to get wrong. You should get a two year guarantee as standard if you register it online, and the option to increase to 5 years for (about) £150 extra. Might be worth it if you do washes every day.

I like my Bosch, had it nearly 3 years and its good (although I suspect it was a factory second as I got it brand new far too cheap - £280 when in the shops it was £699!?!?!???) but its done well, maybe a bit over sensitive when it comes to not spinning loads it thinks is out of balance but this is to protect the machine.

Agree with a previous poster about hoover - never, ever again. Had to get an engineer out twice for the same fault - drum cracked and then I slung it out (this was all in 18 months or so)

I have had Hotpoints in the past which were complete rubbish. But that was a long time ago & they've probably changed parent company 3 or 4 times since then.

I looked at ISE, but it was going to cost twice as much as the Bosch & was guaranteed for twice the time, & at the rate technology moves on I thought it would probably be worth getting another new one in 5 years time if it becomes necessary - I mean, put your hand up if you had a machine with a capacity larger than 6kg 6 years ago!

I've got a Miele which I've had for about 12 years & five house moves!

Never had a problem with it at all. Probably do 5 washes a week.

AEG largish capacity with totally variable temp/spin/time controls and several quick wash options. Best machine I've ever had. Had it 5 years so far and do between 2 & 6 washes a week depending whether DS is home from Uni.
