'No junk mail' signs

So fed up of all the crap that comes through the letterbox. They seem to post it at all hours too which wakes the baby

Often see these signs and wondered if they work?

If it is the pizza circulars etc, it is worth a try.

if your letterbox is that noisy, fix it.

you cannot stop the rubbish the post office deliver unless you have a total opt-out, which will lose you the odd important notice. However you can get rid of all the personal mailshots by getting off the lists and returning them to sender. A month or so of concerted effort and the volume will be much reduced.

I put a 'no takeaway menus' sign up, and it really helped. I hardly ever got one since then [and I was getting about 3 a day]

I get next to fuck all through my letterbox now. No charity bags, no menus.

The stuff that comes with your post isn't covered though - you have to fill in a special form with Royal Mail to stop that

I distribute leaflets, and I always heed those signs.

It may be that some things are distributed by people who don't read English. Also, some are delivered by paid distributors who pay peanuts (£20 per thousand, maybe) and they're lucky they don't just end up in the bin... a lot of them probably don't see the sign until they're on the porch and they just figure they'll push it through, anyway.

I have one and we get much less than we used to.

However, we now don't get the local free paper which was quite useful.

I have one and it makes me feel like a right grumpy old git... but I had to do something as I work at home and was getting cold callers, charity callers, about one bag a day, and loads of rubbish. It has mostly worked: we get about one bag a week now and no one calling by. Friends do comment when they come by, though.

Where can one buy these signs? Especially like the no takeaway menu one. We get a good 4 or 5 menus every wk!

I like the charity sacks, I use them as bin liners.

I made one! Printed one off on the computer and stuck it on the door. Can't remember if I laminated it or not...our door is sheltered.

I actually used a charity sac as a charity sac the other day.

Inside out and to another charity.

I don't mind the Salvation Army. It's just they want such a quick turn around. I tend to fill charity bags over time as DDs grow out of stuff and the seasons change.

Looks like it might be worth doing then. Had pizza menus delivered at 6am this morning

The irony is I have dietary issues so can't eat from any of the menus anyway. Will look out for signs...does make me feel a bit old & grumpy though!
