My house is either too hot or too cold!

Hi
We have gas central heating which is set to come on am and pm. When I woke up this morning it was freezing but then it came on and things started to warm up. By the time I left for school run the place was like a sauna! It actually made me feel really ill.

Later in the day it was really cold again so put it on boost and again within 15 mins I was practically sweating!
I just can't seem to get it right and it's driving me mad having to keep switching it on and off all day!

Does anyone know what I should do or what I'm doing wrong?I just want to be warm all the time and not have the extremes of temp.
Thanks

No advice but me too! We just got central heating put in last year and while its fab I cant get it right.
It's really annoying because I feel like we are not being economical, and either boiling hot or too cold...grrr.

Have you tried leaving it on constant but really low all the time. No more expensive than having to reheat a cold house a couple of times a day, and you get a nice even temperature everywhere.

What do you have the temp set at?

Ours varies (depending on how cold it is outside). If you set it to 18 - 22 it will be cold before it comes on amd them after half an hour of so, should be up to temp and then keep going off amd on to maintain that temp.

So - turn the temp down if you're too hot.

You need to have it coming on an hour before you get up but make sure the radiator thermostats or room thermostat is on a lowish heat. You'll get the blast of heat to get it up to temperature and then the radiators will cool down a bit after a while and you should get a steady comfortable heat. I was making the mistake of not having them come on early enough (both mornings and evenings when I came in), I'd turn them up to full and then wonder why a couple of hours later we were all sweating so turned everything off again. Then it got too cold blah blah. A more constant lower heat is better.

Have you got a room thermostat?

If so, what is it set to?

It does no good to turn the room stat up high - it doesn't make the house heat any faster - it just means that it will carry on heating after it has reached a sensible temperature. A bit like setting your oven to 240 when you want to cook some fairy cakes.
