Cillit Bang Limescale and Shine has ruined my new shower, any advice please?

Hi, I've just had a new bathroom, with matt black porcelain tiles. The tiler also used a tile enhancer to give the tiles a 'wet look'.

Today I've used Cillit Bang Limescale and Shine as there was a it of a soapy residue on the tiles around the shower. It seems to have had a reaction with the surface of the tile and I'm left with spray marks all over the tiles that won't come off.

We are considering reapplying the tile enhancer but are a bit unsure. We've put a call out to the tiler for advice, but I'm not convinced he'll bother calling back.

Has anyone overcome a similar problem?

I wonder what the enhancer was? If it was a wax or silicone polish I expect the cleaner has cleaned it off. I think I have only seen sealants used on floor tiles, especially stone.

Is there a makers name on the bottle? Ask them.

Thanks for answering this. We dug out the leftover bottle of enhancer, which was actually 'Glaze Protector' from a company called LTP. The bottle itself suggested a product to use if you needed to remove it - 'Grimex'.

So, a bottle of that and a LOT of elbow grease later, the tiles were taken back to their original state, and the enhancer could be reapplied evenly.

Thanks for pondering the enhancer, Piglet John - it definately gave us a starter for ten. I was in such a panic yesterday I couldn't think straight.

When I clicked this thread, I was worried the problem would be worse. At least this was just the sealant. A hassle but not as bad as if you'd put acid on marble or turned chrome black.

The tiler should have talked to you about the product. He should have known that it was being used in a shower and that most people use acidic cleaners in showers.
