How to effectively clean radiators?

We have just moved house and the previous occupant wasn't very houseproud to say the least. The radiators are full of black fluff and are generally very dirty behind them. We don't use a tumble dryer so I need my radiators to be clean as my clean washing goes on them.

I have one of these and it removed what seemed to be half a dog, three socks and a toy car from one radiator but I was sweating and looked like a chimney sweep by the time I'd finished so I need a more hassle free way of doing it.

Any help is much appreciated :)

I assume they are the finned radiators, and not flat panels?
You can get radiator cleaning brushes which should get rid of the fluff in the fins. Depends on how small or large the fin is. Modern ones have large fins, older ones are smaller, very old are tiny and usually rusty by now.

A feather duster?

Not flat kind of a \/ \/ shape all the way through.

I have the radiator cleaning brush but I am lazy and that it messy.... Grin

Try vacuuming along the top and bottom with a brush attachment as this should get off the worst, then carry on as you are.... Sorry, but the only way I can see working.

I've seen attachments for vacuum cleaners that fit onto the crevice tool like this

I'm sure you can find other (cheaper) ones too.
