Our Phil & Teds has been in the garage for a couple of months and I just noticed there is mould growing on both seats. Clearly it's more damp in the garage than I thought (garage was only built about ten years ago so should be an ok place to store things, but clearly isn't Angry.
I'm going to move it to the attic now but how do I clean it? A friend wants to buy it in the spring so I need to sort it out.

Bleach spray should do the trick. I used this on my buggy with sucess.

Needathickerskin · 02/01/2013 23:16

Won't bleach spray bleach the colour of the fabric?
I used a weak bio washing powder solution and left them in the sun to dry, good luck with that part! Smile

I think I've heard that Milton works? Check first through I may be wrong x

NellieTheEllie · 03/01/2013 00:12

This happened to my Phil and Teds (was in shed though)
I sprayed ALOT of Milton all over it and gave it a good scrub with a very wet j-cloth. Let it dry, and it looked as good as new. May need a toothbrush to scrub the straps.
I sold mine no problem Smile

I have used detol mold spray on pushchairs and carseats with complete success,

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 03/01/2013 09:02

Yes, dettol bleaches the fabric. Like it did my new jeggins, when I wanted to attack some mold on the window. HmmAngry

With mould & mildew, the trick is to kill the mould then it's much easier to remove (and you know it's properly clean, not just looks clean). blackmold.awardspace.com/kill-remove-mold.html shows you different methods for killing mould. I favour the tea tree oil - like bleach, it kills all moulds but it doesn't fade materials & I prefer the smell & not toxic like bleach is. Had great success with fabrics with soaking them overnight in tea tree oil solution, scrubbing with firm brush (like a new washing up brush), then putting in washing machine on at least a 40C full wash with normal detergent. You could add some more tea tree oil at this stage, perhaps spray it on before loading washing machine.

The Dettol mould spray didn't bleach my buggy fabric, no.
