Good evening everyone. Hope you have all survived your first day back in the real world (although I know some of you have been back at the coal face for a while!).
Bad things about today: dh is really ill with flu, I only did half my list, I didn't get to art acad and won't tomorrow (to do with school/ballet runs and dh being ill and baby-sitter not back from her holiday), central heating broke down
Good things about today: I did half my list
, I found someone who fixed central heating, I am going to bed early, dd's presentation (the one she hadn't studied) was delayed until next week!
[Warbles] "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Silvery, Happy Birthday to you!"
Sorry you are feeling a bit meh... many happy returns from all us fledglings and well done for getting through your list! x (Just read that you were spat at today - I'm so sorry - that's awful.)
Special wing flaps to Trazzles!!
A very warm welcome to Snowgirl1 You are right, the Flylady site is confusing (especially as her whole system is based on concise, clear steps!!) That is partly why this thread was set up originally (although to be fair, Flylady website has improved a lot since then). Best to go to home page and read "getting started", "launch pad" and anything I have linked in op and just have a general look around the site. There is also a Flylady book available called [I'm afraid to say] 'Sink Reflections' available on Amazon.
As others have said, the best way to receive the thread leader's posts highlighted in green (my posts as it happens this month) is to go to Mumsnet Talk>then Welcome>then Getting Started>then Customising Talk and from there I think you choose the Mumsnet Classic option in order to be able to easily spot my daily Flying links. Hope that makes sense! Don't hesitate to ask again if not.
¨Bitchy thanks for reminder - must get organised with regard to breakfasts myself. Not on top of (weight loss) meal planning quite yet.
Yo to Lauren! Organised as ever! And "respect" re: your daily routine. I'm always impressed by daily hoovering (although I know that is necessary for your job - still impressive though). I have bungalow envy too (far too many stairs here).
MrsPennyapple- No need to occupy naughty corner imo! As Bitchy says, Flying is a bit like weight loss - you can assess progress properly over a full week or month - so indiv days here and there won't necessarily have negative impact - as long as you keep going overall ifyswim. The whole idea is that the work is done in concerted chunks leaving you more time to more interesting stuff, such as ... knitting! The fact that you have been able to sit and knit today just shows how you are making a success of the system!!
Thank you for the reassurance Justgettingonwithit - really is needed and appreciated right now. I need to adopt your moniker too and stop feeling sorry for myself! Sorry you don't have good news. Keep hoping for you ...
Sorry to hear the chore division is still getting you down Mummy It's a tough one to handle.
Well done Lplate you've done loads today in your kitchen and there's always a stage when it looks worse before it starts getting better!! Sounds as though you have really started to tackle the worst of it though. (And you've got me worried now as to whether I should be washing dd's backpack. I'm afraid it only gets wiped out with a damp j-cloth every half term. Never thought about putting it in the wm!)
Lplate & Engels yes, being an expat definitely does have its ups and downs!! I've certainly felt much more rooted here since I had dd, especially since she is immersed in Belgian (not international) school, but Bxls can seem a bit soul-less, loads of nationalities all mixed up together (which is GREAT!) but then majority move on after 2 or 3 years (not so great!). Also, I desperately want to live in the country and this is a very urban environment. We are luckier than most though because dh does have Flemish relations on his side because of his mother's duel nationality.
Arf at Whatkatydid!! [Pssst... don't tell anyone ....I am much better at reading and writing about Flying than actually doing it... who am I kidding everyone knows this anyway] Looking at your lists, you have done really well today though!!
Snap Wewereherefirst I worked in publishing in a former life too!! (Don't look at my spelling/grammar/typos now though!!) Turns out we are all teachers or former editors on this thread
!!
Judging from your list, you are doing just fine Doublemum
ComradeJing my morning routine is virtually identical Whoknow's except for making packed lunch in the morning ( only have one dd). If you go to my post on Sat 5th at 21:29:45 see two links I posted for Loris - egs of Flylady's routines in response to similar question. Well done with the unpacking!!
Waves to Lilleth Mercury Whoknows Toffee Judb and Goth all your lists seem v. organised and well planned.
Waves to everyone else (Swan hope you are ok!)
Back in a mo with links!
