Removing black mould from ceiling

We're renting, and the white ceiling in the bathroom has patches of black powerdry mould. Some was there when we moved in (the inventory notes it) but it has undoubtedly got worse over the last 6 months. We'll be moving out in a couple of weeks, and I don't want this to count against us in terms of the deposit.

Will I be able to remove it with a cloth, or will it smear and stain and look 100x worse?

Many thanks!

I used Dettol mould remover on a patch in a room yesterday and it's all come off and not left a trace.
It's in a green bottle. It stinks and must be bloody strong stuff so open windows for a while.

And when you've done that you could always paint over with some anti-mould paint. Or even just bathroom paint if you are moving out.

just wipe it off with the magic Dettol stuff. Don't paint.

previous tenants didn't clean it before they left. Time to (yippeee!) break the mould.

Another vote for the green bottle of Detol Mould and Mildew remover!

Open the windows, wipe it down with a damp cloth, and then being very careful of your clothes and any towels in the room spray the ceiling, leave for 10 mins, and then wipe with a damp cloth.

It might be easier and safer to apply the spray to a damp cloth and wipe on. I'd go for max concentration, but its not the safest way!

I meant you could paint with anti-mould AFTER the dettol mould treatment, which is what I have done to good effect, as the ceiling was still discoloured. Obviously you wouldn't paint over the mould. However if you are moving out you could forget the painting part.
