Displaying photos

Is this the right place to ask about displaying photos?

We live in an old farmhouse and have a large, newly light painted hallway. We have lots of historic photos of the farm (family have been there 80 years) and are wondering about turning the hallway into a bit of a gallery of photos.

Does this sound ok?

Would putting them in a rough timeline be too kitch?

And. If the above is ok, how do we treat the foot and mouth time? OH feels it's a massively important event so should be included, but I'm not sure I can walk past a photo of the cull every day Sad I have a photo of him and his late mother taken the day after which is lovely, despite the events, am hoping to persuade him to use that one instead...

I think it sounds like a lovely idea. If a building has history you should celebrate it. I reckon you'd be able to find the right photo for a difficult time.

It sounds fabulous, but, what do you mean by photos of the cull?
Actual photographic evidence of the cull does not need to be displayed publicly at all, but photos of that time are fine. All part of your family's history.

I'm glad the whole idea isn't too naff :-)

My m-i-l photographed everything that happened here - stock for sale, new buildings, haymaking etc etc. So she also photographed when all their stock was destroyed when they got FMD. I made OH look through them again today and luckily he agreed that they are not suitable to go up on the wall.

Now, where is best to buy photo frames? The pictures are not standard sizes and many of them are the tiny old fashioned square ones with rounded corners...

Ikea frames?

Could you have the photos printed to a more manageable size?

Buy the frames you like and your own mounting board.
Steady hand and a stanley knife, all done!
