Just moved into our new house last weekend. We're pretty skint as i'm currently between jobs redundant so can't afford to do everything and the kitchen has to wait until next year at the earliest. There is a retro ancient oven that we had tested and it worked/was safe so we thought we'd make do BUT it's stopped working, only gets up to about gas mark 2 :( secretly happy I will no longer have to cook Christmas dinner on in

So I need to sort a new cooker making the most out of the money. Budget is max £500, it needs to be gas and preferably a double oven, colour black or grey/silver. Oh and the space it needs to fit in is tiny so i'm looking at a 500mm width!

Hit me......

I'd go for a Cannon Coniston if I were you. What is the exact size of your space- if it's a 535mm which it might be if an old cooker was there, Cannon still made that size up until quite recently so you might get say a Cannon "Chester" from ebay which gives you a little more space in the oven.

If you wanted an "interim" I have a remoska (from Lakeland). It's a brilliant countertop cooker. Uses very little electricity and cooks beauifully, especially thing that can dry out in a proper oven (chicken, pork, fish).

I probably only use my real cooker about once every 7-10 days now. Mainly for oven chips, which seem better in there.
