New mop needed

My old Vileda has died and I need something better. All the downstairs floors are sealed hard wood with a tiled kitchen so there's quite a lot to go at. I need something that doesn't slop water all over the place and isn't too expensive. I've had a look at steam mops but they're a bit out of the price range atm. Are the Lakeland Microfibre mops any good? Seems like little water but an excellent clean.

Don't bother with as steam mop - I have been very underwhelmed and took mine back!

Lakeland Smart microfibre mop is fanatastic!! Don't know why I thought a steam mop would be any better because it certainly wasn't.

I'm still looking for a good mop for the pub! Could the Smart mop cope with an average size bar, a restaurant and a stage area oak floor with only being wetted once, or would I have to keep dashing to the sink to rinse it out?

valiumredhead · 27/11/2012 08:29

Would you really only wet it once? Surely that's just smearing dirt around whatever mop you use?

I would rinse it for each area as I do at home. It's micro fibre so is only barely damp.

Can't you buy a bucket Mandy?

I have this leiftheit one

I use a regular cloth or floor wipe, attach it to the head and go! I fill the reservoir with water and a bit of flash and squirt at stubborn bits. No mess, no drips and I then chuck the floor wipe away/ wash te cloth. :)

It's fab! :)

This was going on from my previous thread here where you will see that I already have a string mop and bucket but was hoping for something better for this Winter!

I'll have a look at the Leifheit one, but it is an ancient oak floor that the sealant has worn off so I was looking for a virtually moisture-free option Smile

If you are after moisture free then you need the Lakeland one imo - I also have oak floors and it works really well! Lakeland have a fab returns policy as well.

Thanks valium - how often does the pad need washing/wringing out - after 5 square feet, 10, 20, in your estimation?

valiumredhead · 28/11/2012 15:36

I do the kitchen which is 15 x 9 ft, then rinse under the tap and do another room which is 15x15 ft and then another which is 12x10.

Does it very quickly and the best thing is down one side there is a scrubby bit so if you have a bit that needs extra you flip it and give it a good going over. I bought an extra mop head so one is in use and one in the wash.

Sometimes I spray a bit of wood floor cleaner on after I have rinsed the mop head.

Oooh, that's a fantastic help, thank you so much Thanks

I don't think you will be disappointed but Lakeland take things back if it's not what you want. Hope it's ok!
