Cooking smells, what can I do?

Cooking smells really linger in our house. I have an extractor hood which I use but which seems to make no difference and yesterday I opened the windows despite the weather. Any ideas?

does the hood actually extract through the wall or does it just blow the air round and round the kitchen?

extractors work better with doors and windows closed as they suck in air from the house under the kitchen door, and this airflow prevents smells diffusing through the house.

Keep it running until you have washed the pans, especially if fatty, or put them in the dishwasher.

Price's are good. I also use a ceramic oil burner (£10) from body shop. Pop a tea light underneath, fill the top with a small amount of water and add pure lemongrass to it. Works a treat- and smells soooo yummy and clean!
