Can you wash feather pillows in the washing machine?

DD has just managed to wee all over DH's pillow (in the time it took me to place her on the bed in her towel and walk across the room to get a nappy).

Pillow is a feather one, no washing instructions. Weather here is v drizzly, but do have a tumble drier.

Or should I just throw it out and treat DH to a new pillow?

Yes, I have done it. I did not tumble dry though. They wash beautifully. I used a delicate wash on the delicate cycle.

I would like to know the answer to this too - my pillow says do not wash, but I won't dry clean it, and it was expensive... I was thinking I would have to buy a new one.

Yep! They can be washed. Use just a little bit of detergent. Sometimes I run my through a second rinse/spin cycle just to be sure the soap's out. Then tumble dry them with some trainers/plimsoles/whathaveyou. That'll fluff them up as it goes.

I did this only a few days ago. 30 degree wash, tumble dry for ages - keep an eye on it though because my dryer got extremely hot! If you have those spikey dryer ball things stick those in too to help it regain shape.

Pillows are fluffy and smell great!

I've washed a feather duvet before, I found I got better, fluffier results if I dried it in a tumble. Worth a try - got to be cheaper than buying a new one!

not that I peed on my dh's pillow, just that i washed a feather pillow obviously!

Thanks! So is tumble drying not recommended then? Doesn't it smell manky if it doesn't dry quickly enough? I imagine it will take a fair while to air dry, given the weather.

no,no definitely dry in the tumble dryer - I imagine it would take forever to dry otherwise and end up a bit fusty...
