...and we've lived here for 5 years now!

It's making the kitchen all stinky now when it's used, what's the best way to clean it, what products to use etc?

Thanks!

I have heard that Ovenu is the best way - think they're a franchise who come out and clean it all for you. Lots of recommendations on here and I'm quite tempted myself ... Not sure how much it is though.

  1. Pick up phone
  2. Ring mobile oven cleaner
  3. make him a cup of tea while he does it.
  4. Give him a big hug for restoring oven to showroom like state.

£40 round here. Grin

As you've not cleaned it in 5 years I'd recommend you use one of those mobile oven cleaning services. They vary a bit in price - I've heard prices between £35 and £70+

Once it's done (and they'll get it looking like it's brand new) buy yourself some Oven Pride. It gets raved about on here and IMO is fantastic stuff. I do my oven a couple of times a year and it requires very little effort for fantastic results.

Ovenpride.

Costs around £4 and it works.

Put the shelves into the plastic bag enclosed, leave 2 hours. Cover inside of oven with the gel cleaner.

You might have to do it more than once, but it works.

I have a lovely man called Mr Moon who comes about once a year and cleans mine for me for about £50-£60. Well worth the money. He's in North Wilts - where are you?

homeaway · 07/09/2012 16:51

Oven pride works wonders :) but be very careful as it is awful stuff to get on your skin.

Slatternismymiddlename · 07/09/2012 17:15

Another vote for oven pride. £3.88 in asda but understand its cheaper in some of the pound shops. Cleaning the shelves was no bother, except be careful the liquid doesn't leak. The oven itself required a bit of 'wiping out', but still a lot less effort than I thought would be required.

So how do I clean the roof where the grill is . Can I oven pride that ? Darent cook cheese on toast as Im worried someone would call the fire brigade !

tattychicken · 07/09/2012 18:36

Another vote for the Get The Man In To Clean. Amazing results, like having a new oven. Mine was quite young and yummy looking too... Wink

Slatternismymiddlename · 07/09/2012 20:35

I have never cleaned the roof of my oven, should I have done?

FanjolinaJolie · 07/09/2012 21:25

Ovenpride

Slight hijack but our oven doesnt have the same sides as the top and bottom metal bit (inside) it is a more scratchy material, how would I clean that? We used to have an oven that was the same on the sides and top/bottom but our new oven has stumped me!

:S that made no sense did it?

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2012 21:31

Well the man takes the oven to bits and the door off and goes off to the back of his van with them. Confused Then brings them back in again. Grin

LetsKateWin · 07/09/2012 21:42

I'd go with Oven Pride too. Excellent stuff. I'm loving the idea of the man though.

Mum2Fergus · 07/09/2012 22:16

Cant remember the name but the paint on gel stuff from Lakeland is fab...

KatBond · 07/09/2012 23:37

Buy a steam cleaner it will be cheaper in the long . It doesn't make sense to ring a mobile cleaner when you can pickup a steam cleaner for £40-60.Just get a Vax S4 Grime Master for £30 and clean it and save money in the long.
