Have sponged up as much as I could with with warm water and then sponged and dabbed warm water mixed with a bit of washing up liquid. Then put kitchen towel on top to absorb excess moisture.

What else can I do?

Do you have any talc or baking soda? Ie things to sprinkle, leave for a short while to absorb odours etc then Hoover up?

Mintyy · 06/09/2012 20:25

Tomorrow, when your dd is hopefully feeling better, you could scrub with a solution of biological washing powder dissolved in warm water.

FamiliesShareGerms · 06/09/2012 20:26

Vanish mousse is also good,if you have any on the cupboard

ArthurShappey · 06/09/2012 20:26

I wouldn't put bicarbonate of soda or talc on whilst it's wet. Wait until
It's dry before attempting this.

Sprinkle lots of bicarbonate of soda on it, leave to dry, scrape up as much as you can & then Hoover. Then go over it with Dr Beckmann's. Worked for a big patch of red wine vomit on our living room carpet...(not mine I hasten to add)

clean it as best you can. Leave it to dry. It will smell pretty bad (especially if it was milk). Sprinkle a good amount of bicarb of soda on it and leave overnight. Vacuum it up and the smell will have gone. Don't waste your money on Vanish or 1001 or any of the other things. Bicarb is the best of all. My living room rug has been through the mill but there is no lingering odour!

I love mumsnet, you ladies are brilliant! I was thinking of bicarbonate soda, very useful to know that it works and to wait till the carpet is dry to use it. Thanks very much!

Shame on me, I have just realised I assumed that all posters in this section are women.

Thanks Devonlovesdiva, she seems absolutely fine now!
