Steam mops?

Just wondering how good they are at cleaning the floor, and if anyone could recommend a make and model as I'm really fed up of ringing out my mop with tennis elbow. I've been looking at steam mops for awhile and I'm not too good with technology so I would be really grateful for a recommendation. Thanks. :)

Watching with interest could I also ask if they r good for wooden floors and/or tiled ?

I have the vax one. We have marble floors (alas though, we do not live in a castle) and got fed up with mops and having to go out whilst it dried. It's great! Completely silent and dries really quickly. You do have to sweep first though. DH does the floors whilst I put DS to bed and all is sparkly bg the time I've finished! Got it from sainsburys as there was a reduction (the vax not DH that it) :)

Thanks, blasted tennis elbow puts pay to heavy hoover and mops. I bought a £30 argos basic hoover as it was so light and I love it, but I really think a steam mop is becoming a necessity. I will check out the vax. Thanks again as I have had 3 cortisone injections over 2 years and I don't want another, but I don't want scuzzy floors either. :)

It's small and pretty light too which is good for you. Check out the deals where you get the detergent too, otherwise buying it separately can be more expensive.

Just bought one today, should be here next week. I was totally roped into the early morning teleshopping channel at 5am and spent far too much than I would like (thanks to pregnancy hormones & DH who insisted we need it!). I'll let you know how it turns out. It's won a which award so hopefully not a waste of money. We have tiles & laminate downstairs, I'm interested how good the window washing attachment is though.

I just bought the Vax one after asking/reading about them here.

I am a but disappointed with it but found it better the second time I used it than the first so perhaps I just need to get used to it. I thought it would be some kind of miracle product but it isn't.

I saw one on tv that looked amazing but it was around double the price of the Vax I think. The Lakeland one gets good feedback and is around the same price as the Vax.

I bought it a week or two ago and it was reduced at the time on amazon.

Anyone used a different detergent?

mummmsy · 06/09/2012 19:46

i've heard great things about the lakeland one from someone with a massive house and stone floors, if that helps?

RokerFace · 09/09/2012 14:46

I got the Lakeland one a couple of months ago and have just sent it back Sad. I found it clumsy, the steam automatically pumped whenever you pushed the steam mop forward so you didn't have any control over the steam.

I've replaced it with a vax and so far, I love it (plus the cleaning pad is blue so it looks better when you wash it - the white lakeland ones went grey immediately).

From watching the ad Ambi, I too need that H20 Mop. Let us know if it is as good as I know think it is. Thanks Smile

DH loves it!! He keeps showing it off to everyone. It arrived 30 mins before we were due to the hospital for induction - he was much more excited about steam mop than new baby!!! The whole house has been steamed, I'm not allowed to touch it though, I'm not trusted to use his precious steamer properly. The handheld is good and totally deodorises bins/ sinks etc. Yes it's £100 but it is worth it.
