Would you recommend your frying pan? and if so, why and what is it?

Has anyone heard of Greenpan Kyoto products? Their frying pan appears to be great from the blurb but not sure?
Our non stick stuff is coming off so i think it is time to change it! Our pans are Fissler which are amazing quality but i do think for a frying pan a bit of non-stick is required?
Any views or recommendations?

I have been unable to decide if an iron pan, with a good coating of burnt-on grease and never washed, is better than a non-stick pan, wiped round after washing with a spot of cooking oil and polished off.

No non-stick lasts very long so I am disappointed when I have a nice expensive oine and the surface wears out.

Stainless always sticks and you can't prevent it.

I like these pans. Although I only use the special plastic utensils with them (not even wooden spoons). Also they should not go on extreme hot fires/plates but that applies to all non-stick pans.

However, they are a lot better than Tefal IMO.

dikkertjedap · 04/09/2012 21:18

not plastic but silicone utensils of course!

Cast iron is the only way to go. Properly seasoned they are as good as non-stick and of course last forever. They heat very evenly and can go straight from the hob into the oven for pan-roasting.

And you get a free forearm workout every time you cook.

I'm very happy with my Le Crueset frying pan. It's non-stick and very heavy.

My DM however has the best pan in the world. My great grandfather was a shipbuilder and worked on the titanic. According to family legend he made a pan from the same metal used to make part of the ship. It sure is heavy. You need two hands to lift it and if swung at someone's head, could probably kill them! It's only wiped round, never washed up. Avoids thinking about 100 years' of grease

having an arm injury has reminded me that sooner or later I will be too frail to use the iron pans Sad

We have the Le Creuset non-stick aluminium pans and they are wonderful. They never stick, are light and wash perfectly. They are pricey though, but worth it I think.
