Can't BELIEVE I have started a thread called this! Grin

What saucepans can I get that are

a) non stick and stay non stick

b) not too expensive

please?

Over the years, obviously the more I have spent the better they have beem but not always . . . some cheap ones have lasted ages, some more expensive ones have been crap.

Any recommendations?

Oh GOD I want to know the answer too and was going to start a thread asking the very same question.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/09/2012 12:36

I have found the hard anodized aluminium ones from Asda very good. The non stick surface lasts for aaagggeees. (especially if you don't use metal implements on them.

see here for example

I can't find the set of 3 that I bought on line, but I think they still do them in store

Wingedharpy · 03/09/2012 02:05

I have a couple of pans from John Lewis' from "The Pan" collection and I love them.
They are non-stick and stay that way if you treat them right ie no using metal implements to stir/mash in them.
They have lovely feeling silicone pan and lid handles which feel very nice to handle and don't get hot so you're not trying to drain stuff and faff about with an oven glove at the same time.
They have glass lids with a small steam outlet so that you can see how things are cooking.
I would recommend.

QVC had a lovely set as TSV a couple of days ago . Very nonstick ,you can use metal utensils and a lifetime guarantee. Nice colours as well.

Save au

TheSkiingGardener · 03/09/2012 02:59

Save up and get Le Crueset. Seriously, I tried so many pans and they all only lasted a few years. Now I never have to buy a pan again, don't have to worry about how I use them and they are easy to clean.

lolalotta · 03/09/2012 06:06

Can Le Creuset go in the dishwasher? My friend put hers in and swears they are ok... (gulp)

BalloonSlayer · 03/09/2012 07:54

Don't Le Creuset weigh a ton though?

I'm with Norma. U have hard anodised pans. Had them about 5-6 years. Mine are Circulon ones but there are lots of brands.

I also have a Le Creuset pan and had that even more years. Yes they are bloody heavy!

Trioofprinces · 03/09/2012 08:40

We have le creuset pans and put them in the dishwasher, life is too short not to. That said I clicked on this thread as they need replacing now as the handles are worn out from the dishwasher! We have had them for 13-14 years though, if we didn't use the dishwasher I'm convinced it'd be longer but still a good innings all in all.

Trioofprinces · 03/09/2012 08:42

Btw the le creuset saucepans ate fantastic, but the frying pans far less so. I gave away two frying pans to my sister and she then threw them out a couple of months later!

You can get le creuset online for about 2/3 of the rrp and cheaper than the le creuset outlet shops. I can't remember who I bought with but recently bought le creuset tableware that way.

BalloonSlayer · 03/09/2012 09:03

Hmm . . . I am not sure about Le Creuset if they are that heavy . . . DCs are starting to want to cook and if I'd struggle then they'd never manage. Will check out Circulon.

I've never minded le Creuset being heavy (which they are) but DP won't use them.

However I have got Tennis Elbow at the moment and wouldn't want to lift them empty, never mind full.

HipHopOpotomus · 03/09/2012 19:22

I've ruined a couple of Le Crueset pans beyond saving. It is possible Grin

My best non stick is a Scan Pan - but they are v expensive. Can use with metal though and the one I have is now 8 and still going strong. Lifetime guarantee etc
