Roomba is fab - anyone got a scooba?

I have had the roomba for three weeks now and it is the best thing ever. I am finally managing to just leave it alone and not stand watching it as it magically vaccuums the floors.

But now, I want a scooba. I can't find too many reviews on them , and am wondering if you have tried one or know much about them.

I finally have spotless carpets (I am not houseprooud or even tidy, so am thrilled that cleanliness can be achieved with no effort at all on my part). Now I am noticing my kitchen & bathroom floors need some good scrubbing.

Help!

I have fancied a roomba for a while but have no idea what a scooba is? Explain!

A scooba is the mopping version of the roomba. Apparently it runs around your hard floor and mops it as it goes - about 5 passes over each spot and leaves it only slightly damp and gleaming.

If you are thinking of the Roomba, then do get one. You'll be gobsmacked. I delight in how much muck it pulls from the carpet (and wonder where it all comes from...) All you have to do is pull out the cartridge at the back to empty it - and there is no bag so you get the chance to see what it may have hoovered up that it should not have - the thud of a diamond ring as it falls into the bin should ring alarm bells. Never had a diamond ring yet, though! And then you pull the hairs and fluff off the brush - again a perverse pleasure. My girls have long hair and it does a good job of lifting those (not that I had even noticed they were there before).

Just as an aside, my kids are currently watching your huband on the Sherlock DVD - is he difficult to live with? We think he would be, but interesting for a short time!

Enjoy your roomba.

See, I was worried that because Roombas are quite small that they might not pick up much.

For wooden floors could i have a roomba and a scooba running at the same time? Or would it turn into robot wars? lol.

I'm glad your children are enjoying DH's performance. He is not at all like his character in the show. He's actually a raving cockney and enjoys eating with his fingers and drinking polish vodka. He's just a terribly good actor Wink

It might be worth it for the robot wars scenario!

I have been coveting a roomba 564 and now its bloody discontinuined!
Big dogs bollocks.... Checking out the 770 now, best price 327 but out of stock FFS I am cursed.
Which model did you buy?

I got the 531 and it is fab. Some reviewer somewhere said that they are all the same inside - you just get a few more functions with the more pricey ones. Mine was £299 from Lakeland- free delivery.

Roombas pick up most things - but not all budgie feathers, I find. It picks up more fluff and dust than you thought was ever there. Maybe the carpets will be threadbare if I overuse it... don't really think so - my miele dog & cat could nearly suck the bloomin carpet up the hose. Rooomba is quite gentle in comaprison.

Mrs Cumberbatch - I wouldn't have them both running at once. Apparently the roomba doesn't like spilt water - he might explode (or something). And the scooba likes a clean floor to mop. Dead fussy, these robots.....
