Can anyone recommend a good one under £40? Cordless preferably. There are loads of Black and Decker Dustbusters but are they any good? And which one?
Thanks.

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out vacuum cleaners, so here's our round-up of the best cordless vacuum cleaners available to buy now.

Hope this helps! Flowers

I have one ( black and decker) and it's rubbish, been untouched in the hall cupboard for about 3 years.

IME all the cheap ones are rubbish. We've had loads and not one has been any good and, yes, after the first use, they sit unused in the garage/cupboard under the stairs because you may as well just use a dustpan and brush. There was a wet/dry one which was especially pointless because if you tried to clean anything wet, whatever it had managed to suck up before turned to mud, basically, in the container.

The dyson one is the only one which isn't crap but it's also the only one I've had which wasn't cheap. I use it every day to hoover my bathroom (because my hair falls out by the handful and has done since I was little) and the kitchen floor after breakfast. In the 3 months I've had it, it has been used more than all the cheap ones put together!

I've just bought this and it's very good - quite powerful, a charge gives 20 minutes of usage, and it comes with various attachments. It's gone up by a pound or two since I got mine last week, but still almost half normal price.

Don't bother with a Dirt Devil the one I bought is rubbish!

Thanks everyone. I'd love a Dyson but can't stretch to it at the mo so I've gone with Nan's recommendation and ordered that one. Fingers crossed! I'm sick of having to get the big Hoover out several times a day when my toddler drops crumbs on the floor. Smile

Thanks from me too - I've just ordered one!

I already have the Gtech cordless vacuum and it's brilliant for floors but no attachments for upholstery, ceiling cobwebs etc, so hoping to use the handheld for all that.

Just to add I posted this ages ago and was told to save up for the Dyson which I did and its very good

Longtalljosie · 31/08/2012 12:07

I've got a DustBuster and it's fine. The key is to clean the filter regularly... I didn't and thought mine was shit - was most surprised when I got around to it!

Dyson . End of.
