Anyone come across this before? What are they, they are really small and white and move very slowly :S

maggots or grain mites? How small are they?

JustPondering · 28/08/2012 23:31

Really really tiny, about a millimetre. definitely not maggots. Off to google grain mites!

They look like dust until I get close and see that they are moving. They are coming from inside the hoover, I have left the hoover in the garden overnight Smile

Maybe just take the bag out? I don't think hoovers do "outdoors"

JustPondering · 28/08/2012 23:35

I think they are grain mites, I googled and someone else had the same problem with the same brand of hoover (Henry). Makes sense as we have recently had a flood, so the kitchen is probably still damp.

It's an Henry hoover, I only left the bottom half outdoors there's no electrical part in that. The mites were not just in the bag, they were all over the hoover.

Good. They're disgusting aren't they? This is where you need another hoover to clean the first one!
