Sour smelling weatherproof sports anorak

DPs weatherproof sporty anorak (brand Animal) has developed a funky, "lived in" smell after a wet summer camping. It's not musty, it's that kind of sour smell which you get when clothes have dried slowly indoors. I washed it according to the manufacturer's instructions (30 degrees), but as I suspected the smell is still lingering. Would you risk a hotter wash? The shell is 100% polyester and the inner lining is 100% nylon, so I can't imagine it would disintegrate or shrink. The only thing that might suffer is the weather proofing, but I could always do that again. I have a feeling a good 60 wash ought to get it nice and fresh again (as I suspect the smell arises from bacterial growth in old sweat etc... bleurgh...) Any one washed stuff like this on hot washes and got away with it?

I bought some stuff called Halo Sports Wash after reading about it on here. It is primarily designed to get rid of that horrible, lingering BO smell in (men's) sports kit but I read other people used to get rid of smells in their husband's work shirts etc. so I think it works as a deodoriser on smells ingrained in fabrics in general.

I couldn't find it in the supermarket so bought it off amazon. It was quite pricey and wasn't the miracle cure for DH's sports kit I thought it would be, but after a few washes and using a bit more than the stated amount it has done the trick. It can also be used at 30 degrees.

I also recently used the Ariel liquid with febreze in it which was great. You could try that first and if it doesn't work try the Halo stuff.

Ah-ha! That sounds just like what I'm looking for! Thank you for taking the time, Sunny.

You're welcome! Also just thought that once you have for rid of the smell you could wash it in the stuff you use for ski jackets to re-waterproof. They always sell it in places like Snow and Rock or Blacks.
