Value vinegar half water/half vinegar - leave overnight, remember to rinse in the morning. Round the lid and spout, best thing I have used is those silver scourer type things (not brillo pads) - they come in a pack of four from Waitrose, Aldi and Lidl. Not sure about other SM's.

PS Bring mixture to boil and then just leave.

Cut a lemon in half. Set half aside for G&T.

Ram the other half over the spout.

Fill the kettle with aldi/smartprice vinegar.

Soak kitchen towel in vinegar, place it over the lid areas.

Leave overnight. Rinse it all off in the morning, the limescale should have all dissolved or be really soft and easy to scrape off.

I dont boil the vinegar I use for de-scaling, I pour it back into the bottle.

Universal Stone is great for getting rid of limescale on kettles and on and around taps etc. For thick limescale you'll need to use it a few times. IT also helps to keep the limescale off because it contains glycerine and gets it looking really shiny

I use it all around the house, fantastic on stainless sinks, taps, shower glass, tiles etc. great for cleaning burn marks off the toaster, hob, pots etc

It isn;t a stone, its just hard, you use a sponge to clean with. LAsts ages and is 100% eco friendly

That stuff looks really good, but am going to have to resist buying it!

Once I have used my value vinegar in the kettle, I strain out the limescale and then bung the vinegar in my dishwasher and give it a good clean on empty. Brings it up all sparkly and fresh smelling.

Other times I do the same with the washing machine on the hottest wash.

I use Kilrock K Descaler- it is amazing and used to get even the worst lime scale off my kettle when I lived in London.

Pop a dose into a half full kettle, start to boil but then stop before it fizzes up too much. Then leave for a while. Before emptying tip the water forward gently to the spout and it instantly dissolves any build up.

Be careful not to inhale it as it is boiling/fizzing as it seem very chemical.
