Cleaning greasy baking trays?

Help!

All of our baking trays are greasy, and no matter how much I scrub them they are still grim. Have tried using scouring pads and tried soaking them in soapy water, but neither made a difference.

Any ideas?

If they are non stick squirt washing up liquid straight onto them and use a small amount of water, then give them a really good scrub.

If they are not non-stick, give them a good go with a brillo pad using very little water.

Make sure the water you do use is really, really hot as cold/warm water will not shift grease.

You could also try vim powder and a scourer.

I take it you have not got a dishwasher. I'd use UKSky's scrubbing with WUL.

Washing soda in hot water is good for greasy stuff, and quite cheap. Remember to wear rubber gloves.

IMO if it is grease, not dirt or burned on food, a brillo or vim is not suitable.

I put them on the stove, fill them half way with water, add soda crystals (about half a cup) and bring to a boil. leave overnight, nearly no scrubbing involved.

Wipe first with kitchen towel, then like previously said squirt washing up liquid with a little bit of water and scrub. Then wash as usual in hot soapy water. Xx

Use biological washing powder in boiling water and soak for 3 hours.

Scrub using clean water.

They're meant to get black.....not stay shiny!

Sign of a good cook!

"They're meant to get black.....not stay shiny!"

Black I can deal with, permanently sticky on the other hand..

Tried using washing up liquid straight onto them, no difference. Shall try something else

Def biological washing powder it works wonders

Sounds like grease that's been baked in over time. Could see if non-bio liquid and boiling works, leave to cool then scrub, or Fairy Power Spray - just like very, very concentrated washing liquid - pretty good stuff. Or could maybe try something like Oven Pride? Sounds like its the sort of grease that is similar to the stuff that my oven accumulates, so maybe Oven Pride gel but not overnight?
