We are moving in about 6 weeks and have been told fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher will not be left so we need to buy them. They need to be freestanding and ideally fairly cheap, anyone got any recommendations on either make/ model or places to buy from?

Also we will be buying a sofabed for the lounge so either sets of parents etc can stay (my dad is in his 70's so it needs to be a good comfy bed!) and i really don't know where to start. We would want a 3 seater. Again recommendations on type/ model/ where to buy would be appreciated. I guess we could stretch up to about a grand on this?

how cheap is cheap? do you have an actual budget?

& does it have to be a washer-dryer rather than 2 separate things?

re the sofabed, is a comfy bed more important thatn a comfy sofa?

\link{http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/10663/\have a look at Ikea's sofa-beds} initially as you can sit & lie on them in store & see what they feel like

we have a 2-seater sofa bed with a fairly thick mattress, the mattress isn't bad but it's a bit narrow so you want a 3-seater really

I'm off to Ikea for a sofabed next week, I shall report back afterwards!

For white goods have you ever joined Which before? You can usually join for £1 for the first month so join, choose from their best buys and then cancel, you just have to e-mail them to cancel. Appliances online do top 5s of everything too and you can use cashback websites to buy from them. Their delivery is good too, free and they text you on the morning of delivery to let you know a time slot then phone you half an hour before they arrive. (I just had a dishwasher delivered today so all fresh in the memory).

My fridge freezer was the only affordable on on the best buy list, it is an Indesit No Frost something or other and it is great. It is perfect size wise, you get a really good view of the fridge so you don't get stuff lurking at the back like we used to with ones that were not at such a good height and 3 years after buying it we still have never had even the smallest amount of ice in the freezer so so far so good.

Dishwasher not yet plumbed in so can't comment, just picked from the top 5 on appliances online.

Washing machine I have a John Lewis one. They are made my AEG so brand without pricetag and come with a good guarantee. When I was researching what to buy the outcome seemed to be if oyu have the cash buy a Miele but if not buy John Lewis. I have the most basic one and it works fine, it takes a beating really with small children, cloth nappies etc but it gets everythign clean, nice and basic just choice of temps plus a couple of wool and delicate cycles and a nice quick wash button that turns any wash at any temp into a quick wash.
