What to do with odd bed linen?

Dull question of the day...

What would you do with old, mismatched bed linen? I've got loads of duvet covers but missing pillowcases. We are very limited on space do I'm basically wondering whether I should just get rid if it, or buy pillowcases to go with them. If I do get rid, I will donate them to nursery so they would get used for crafty activities.

To stay or to go, that is the question!

I use my non matching stuff for holidays if camping or caravanning. The kids also use random quilts for tent making, hopefully this phase will pass. Last suggestion is to donate to your local dogs/cats home as they always need stuff like that for spare bedding or cleaning.

I can't throw anything away, so would keep it and use it. Does it really matter if stuff doesn't match as long as it's clean and paid for?
Have some matching linen for when visitors come, by all means, but there are better things to spend money on than matching sheets and pillow cases!

This may sound a bit Laura Ashley but..................
having moved homes several times I too ended up with a multitude of coloured bed linen in perfectly good condition but all mis-matching my latest colour scheme.
I resolved this by buying a couple of meters of fabric which co-ordinated with my curtains (or even in 1 instance, the same as my curtains) and just made a big rectangular bed throw which covered up the mis-matched bedding and made the room look very co-ordinated.

My mum used a couple of old single duvet covers to make 2 cot duvet covers for my dd. they were fab and I'll be using them again for my dd2. One if them used to be my duvet when I was young, so it was quite sweet that I've been able to use it for my daughter(s)

She just ran a couple of seams up/across them and then cut the excess off.

If I was going to donate them, I'd choose a homeless charity or refuge. No point in them being cut up if they are still useable as they are, IMO.

Or Freegle. There are plenty of people short of money trying to run a home. I like to offer in small enough quantities that a family will appreciate them but a dealer will not bother.

The charities tend to sell off to a rag dealer, I believe.

Our local animal charity will take them in any condition
