Stainless steel fridge - rusty doors - help!

I have a stainless steel fridge freezer which has horribly rusty doors due to it being cleaned with some unknown cleaning product (not me but a very horrified cleaner!)

The manufacturer has provided a small box of powder product for me to try but looks like this could take me three weeks with a toothbrush to out on!

Any ideas of what I can do/use? Or are there companies out there who could restore the doors for me? Has anyone had the same problem?

Thanks very much.

maybe it was an acid cleaner as used for limescale in kitchens? Is it a brown smear?

if it is a brushed stainless finish, you can usually rub it with a green nylon pan scourer to get rust off. It is essential to rub it in the same direction as the brushing. Never never never polish in circles as it will always show. The white scourers are softer and less liable to change the texture of the brushing. Try an unobtrusive area first.

If the rust is in little dark specks somewhat indented in the surface, it is caused by poor quality stainless steel from the far east. there have been a lot of complaints about it in various quarters.

Can only offer my advice for when I had a rust ring in my stainless steel sink that I could get rid of.

Thick paste of bicarb of soda and water (make sure paste is thick though). Leave for several hours (I left mine overnight) then scrub. I used one of those non-scratch scrubbing sponges.
