Good food processor?

What would you recommend? Nothing too complex with thousands of attachments that I'll probably never use, but something decent all the same?

Depends how big you need it, what you like to make and whether you have much work top space :)

I love my magimix. It works well for what I like to make in it, eg soups, pastry, cakes, pâtés, pie fillings, coleslaw.... The juicer function isn't brilliant but I have a juicer so it doesn't matter. It's also small enough to fit in a kitchen cupboard. And it's easy to clean.

Again, Magimix for me. The middle sized model does everything I want perfectly.

Doesn't make a cup of tea when I get up though

Magimix too. I have the 3200 which isn't too big.

Magimix is fab. I didn't think I'd use it. I use it a good few times a week

If you want a mixer/processor that will last you a lifetime then go for a Robocop though they are expensive.

I love my Cuisinart. Super sturdy, like a magimix. I used to have a cheaper brand food processor/blender and bits of plastic broke off after 18 months.

Thanks all. I've got my eye on Magimix, although will have to save for a while! I'll look out on EBay too. In the meantime, I got a very basic blender from Morrisons yesterday for £13! It will be far inferior to the Magimix / robo, but might be an idea if I test the water first and see how often I use it. Jamie Oliver choc brownies are first up, closely followed by my Green Soup!

Is the £13 one you got a hand blender? I've got that and a food processor, and they are for different things. I found making pastes and sauces easier with the hand blender. (And obviously things like milk shakes and soups). But for chopping, slicing and julienning I always use the food processor discs. Hope this make sense.

SlinkyPebbles · 07/08/2012 19:13

No, it's a food processor. Used it today and it was pretty good. It's basic, but did the job (brownies)! It will do until I can save for Magimix anyway!

Does anyone have this model, on special from Johnny's? This thread has re-ignited my desire for a food processor.

What would it not have that the more expensive ones you've recommended have?
