And do you need 20p coins for them? Roughly how much to dry a load?

Many thanks in advance- need to make sure I have the right change for tomorrow.

Laundrette by mine is £2 for normal wash, £3 for extra large machine. Accepts £1 coins. Dryer is 20p pieces, personally I just bring it home wet and dry on the maiden, but we have never had a tumble dryer at home, so that's nothing unusual for me :)

I had to take a single duvet in last week as one of the kids was sick and it wouldn't fit in our machine. It was £5 for the big machine at the launderette Shock

Woah, let's hope it's more £3 than 5 down here... Thank you!

When our washer conked the other week, I paid £10 for a loaf washed, dried and folded. That now seems very steep!!!! Confused

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/08/2012 23:13

Not a loaf, a load!!

duchesse · 03/08/2012 23:38

Oh I don't know Ethelred- It's only once in a while and it would probably have taken an hour to do it yourself, so that's not too bad really.

£7 for a large machine, people. Shock £7!!

Our machine at home is a 7kg one and we had probably 4 loads of that, but still, we had to use two huge industrial machines at £7 each.

7 for the big drum here, 4 for the regular + 2£ for drying.

not cheap at all!

CultureMix · 09/08/2012 07:04

£5 here for large drum wash, £4 for medium
£3 for dry
weekdays they have a counter open and someone will give you change, can even pay by card; otherwise it's 20p or £1 coins

I need to use the large drum to wash duvets as these don't fit in our home washing machine. We're at that awkward stage where DS1 is 'nearly dry' but not quite so still getting accidents, can't have him in night nappies forever but I hope it clicks soon....

Though if the weather looks good I use my MIL's technique which is to soak the duvet in the soapy water in the bath, rinse it out, wring it out as much as possible, then out in the garden draped on kids playframe to drip dry then dry out. Only works if a) soaking done at night (minimise the soak area) b) hanging out is done first thing on a hot sunny day and c) flip it over 2-3 times during the day. Or else drag the whole soaking mess to the launderette Sad.

You can buy panel duvets that zip apart that can be washed dried at home.
I'm buying a king size one for my bed as I can't be bothered to drag it down the laundrette to get it washed / dried. Bit pricey though.
