A toy clear out - help needed!

I am trying so hard to declutter but finding it hard with the kids toys. I have a 7yr old & 2yr old dd's. Dd2 just wants to play with dd1's toys so I'm thinking about getting rid of a lot of her toddler toys. We have loads of duplo, she plays with bits of it but not that much. Do I get rid of it all? Do I leave just a little bit with a few animals? We also have little lego which I'm tempted to get rid of as dd1 has moved onto Playmobil & dd2 loves this too. They have little storage tubs that go under their bed so hopefully we will be able to put most of their toys under their beds. Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

I would start off with the youngest stuff first and see how you go and how much the miss it. Lego I would say keep until both have def grown out of it if I am honest as it's expensive to replace.

Facebook selling pages are great if you have a local one as you can sell for free. I use these loads!

Take things away and hide. If they havent asked for it in 2 months, get rid of it.
Dont chuck out little lego though; they are likely to want it in the future as it great till adult Grin

Streamlined storage often has as much impact as throwing things out Smile

Thank you - I was hesitating over the little Lego as it does seem a shame. I will keep a bit of Duplo just for dd2 to play with now. When she gets a bit older I'm sure she will prefer to play with the little stuff like a big girl.

I am a childminder and understand how hard it is to ditch toys. I'm not great at letting go of them tbh but it did help to look at how much of each set I had. I got rid of half of the Brio and they didn't even notice! Then I did the same with the cars, animals and so on. It means we have just as much in the way of variety but each set takes up half the space.

Lego can fit on the top of duplo, so handy for building large things. DS1 loves using the duplo bricks as a base for his lego, especially for 'walls'.

wantanorange - thats what I'm thinking of doing. I think because we have so much of it it gets played with less & has got to be got out & searched through etc

chitch - I never knew that. Am tempted to have a go now but dd's are asleep!
