It sounds amazing- but is it too good to be true?

Housewifefromheaven · 27/07/2012 15:09

Oh right :o

I'm thinking if buying too

Housewifefromheaven · 27/07/2012 15:09

of buying too!

SerialKipper · 27/07/2012 15:14

TBH, you might want to hold off buying until you've heard from someone who didn't join MN just to make that post... Hmm

I think that's really unfair to say, surely you guys had a first post once? And people probably weren't so judgmental to suggest you'd joined the site because of one post. I wouldn't of bothered joining if i knew that people would be so judgmental when i'm just replying to a question i saw that i have an opinion on.
Either way I hope that my post helped answer 'nowwearefour's' question.

nowwearefour · 27/07/2012 17:44

i was looking for a range of experiences tbh. anyone else heard of it? it was advertised in the guardian last sat....

here you go

PigletJohn · 28/07/2012 02:39

IIRC "Which" tested something similar and found them totally ineffective.

You are just sloshing your clothes around in clean hot water in the machine, there will be a residue of soap in the machine and in the clothes from previous washes. This sloshing will get some of the dirt out.

Adding a magic device with no active ingredients makes no difference, except to transfer some money out of your pocket and into the pockets of the people who trade in these things.

I looked at some of the adverts, they do not provide any evidence of what the egg contains or how it works.

If you want to try sloshing your dirty clothes around in hot water, give it a try and save yourself £9.99

nowwearefour · 29/07/2012 12:06

thanks piglet. it did seem a bit like that might be the case- i wasnt sure whether something in the pellet mgiht make a difference. but prob not!

And I agree with SerialKipper in these cases.

oopsCENSOREDagain · 29/07/2012 12:55

I've got one, had it for three months, and I love it. The clothes do come out clean, and after three months I seriously doubt there's any 'soap residue' left in my machine Piglet!

Obviously stains don't come out - at least, not any better than they do with washing powder, but not any worse either IYKWIM. I still use my normal Vanish stain remover spray on stuff like spaghetti sauce, blood, grass etc.

The clothes come out a lot softer than if you just use washing detergent, even without using fabric softener. But I still add a tiny bit of fabric softener because I like the smell - without it, the clothes just smell of - well, wet fabric, actually, which is exactly what they are but not what I want to smell IYSWIM.

BTW I didn't just join to make this post - I'm oopslateagain but NC for the Olympics.

I tried ecoballs for a few months after using Ecover for years. DD's eczema didn't improve and my washing machine became very smelly and mouldy. I bought some biological washing powder to deal with the smell and the mould, both of which disappeared. What was more astonishing was that DD's eczema disappeared as well! I couldn't believe it, especially as Ariel biological powder is always depicted as the baddie. I also use Fairy non bio for non whites.

TeaOneSugar · 29/07/2012 15:12

I found it was OK for colours, but my whites started to go grey, I won't be replacing it.

nowwearefour · 29/07/2012 19:27

i dont think i will be bothiering based on these posts
