Rug Doctor

Very dull question, but have any of you hired a 'rug doctor' carpet cleaner and if so, was it good? (I think they are generally available to hire from supermarkets/diy stores...)

Our carpets, whilst relatively new, are pretty mucky from having a toddler and I am getting to the point where I need to do something about it!

TIA.

Yes, really worth it. The dirt it sucked up from one small rug Blush!

Thanks fossil, much appreciated!

I've hired one a few times - they're really easy to use and do a great job.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 23/07/2012 17:41

Brill, thanks Mollie!

They are fantastic. We used one when we moved out of our last house. A carpet we'd always thought was coffee coloured turned out to be pink!

kdiddy · 23/07/2012 18:23

Well worth it IMO

Easy to use and bloody hell does it remove dirt, even when you think the carpets arent that mucky. I was oddly fascinated by the colour of the water coming out, even when I did all the carpets for a second go. I think I took photos Blush

Absolutely worth it... hire for 48 hours and share with a friend/neighbour!

ValerieDavis · 26/07/2012 09:47

Yes I would definitely say go for it - I was amazed at the dirt that came out of the carpet!

hermionestranger · 26/07/2012 09:49

Yep hire it they are brilliant. I get one out every two/three months because we have cream carpets and dogs and boys!

tethersend · 26/07/2012 09:57

Ah. Thought you meant a gynaecologist.

OneLittleBabyTerror · 27/07/2012 09:54

Do you guys move your furniture to use the rug doctor? We did it once when we move into our place. But the carpets are all mucky again (blame toddler). Our place is pretty small and there are a lot of furniture! I remember they are quite bulky.

happyAvocado · 27/07/2012 12:59

yes, some
put alu foil under legs of furniture so it doesn't leave impressions

NickNacks · 27/07/2012 13:23

Anyone know if you can use them to clean stairs and upholstery?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 27/07/2012 14:09

Thanks all! We are definitely going to give it a whirl. tethersend that was a very funny post. I can only imagine how disappointing the actual thread was! Grin

According to their website there's an attachment to do stairs and upholstery, although it also says you have to buy a separate detergent for upholstery (really necessary?).

Does it actually do a good job on the stairs though? I need to do something about cleaning our carpets at some point and the stairs are the grubbiest bit of all (not our idea to have a cream stair carpet!)
