Pongy cupboard

We got a larder cupboard made. It was delivered about a month ago and had a strong pong of wood stuff. Wax or paint or something. Despite keeping the cupboard doors open for days the pong persists and taints any food not sealed in a tin or jar. What can I do? Have considered using bicarbonate of soda somehow but how exactly?
Am I just going to have to buy hundreds of jars.

I would spread the bicarb all around the cupboard...sprinkle it liberally and get into the corners...then leave it overnight.
HOover or wipe it all out in the morning and then see.

Also...have you tried dilluted bleach or laundry detergent...the active kind....

try putting a bowl of white vinegar in the cupboard and closing the doors. leave overnight and it should absorb the smell. if particularly bad repeat for another night. less messy than spreading bicarb.

is it made of mdf?

is the inside painted or laminated?

Hi, sorry RL came between me and MN.
Ok I will try the less messy vinegar first and should that not work then some bicarb.
Cupboard is made of wood some painted some waxed.

If it is made of waxed and painted wood (pine or something? Not ply or other sheet material?) then I think it must be solvents escaping. All I can suggest is leaving it open to air. If you can put it in a sunny spot or, even better, put it outside under cover, it will air out faster. You could ask the maker what products he used as he may have used an oil with solvents as well as the wax.
