what do you do with all the wonderfu pieces of art, I mean dd1 can produce 10 a day and they usually involve cereal boxes etc, basically every bit of rubbish we have ever tried to get rid of she has a wild and wonderful project for, but he she wants to keep them forever, and she is in the box room. So anyone else who has mega crafty children what do you do with al the stff?

Can you put a shelf high up on one wall of her room ( say 18 ins or so from ceiling so not at head- bumping height)? All creations go on shelf, once shelf is full she has to decide what to keep and what is rubbish has got "too dusty". Then how about a large storage crate under bed for storing cereal boxes and kitchen roll tubes etc. Again - everything must fit in crate and something must be chucked if it gets too full. One of the best things my Mum ever did was give me an old sheet to put down on my bedroom carpet when "crafting". It made it much easier for me to clear up afterwards and stopped me getting any more glue on the carpet.

I have the same problem with my 4 year old. I put them in the recycling when she is in bed/at nursery. I make sure there are a few around so she doesn't notice. It is hard though. She loves them so much and is so proud of them!

I think someone had the genius idea of having an A3 art folder with pages and the children saving their favourite to go in there.

Or encourage upcycling - creating new art from old art :)

Can you take photos on them and put them on a digital display album then box the originals after a discreet length of time?

MushroomSoup · 21/07/2012 15:22

Yes, take photos for the album, keep for a week and then bin recycle.
I bought all my DCs a 'treasure box' - can be any size you think is fair! That's where they can keep all the tat treasure they accumulate (in DC4's box there are mainly mcDonalds crap, pens, rubbers, a pair of loo-roll-binoculars, some comics and a 'precious' doll with one leg. The rule is they can keep anything they like in the box but it must fit in the box! When the box gets full they purge it - after a few weeks they start pulling out the stuff they thought was treasure and say "why did I keep this??"
