Mouldy washing machine

I know there are lots of smelly washing machine threads, but....

My washing machine is mouldy. I'm going to stop using fabric conditioner, but how can I get rid of what's there now? I've cleaned the tray, the seals and as far back behind the powder drawer as I can reach, but it will be mouldy all through, won't it?

So - what gets rid of mould in washing machines?

Mine was rather stinky and yucky so I gave it a few washes with lots of white vinegar at highest temperature. Then stopped using liquid detergent - powder is best and no fabric conditioner. I also add a scoop of soda crystals with each wash and since doing this it smells super fresh and that mildewy smell has gone. My mum reckons I could use non concentrate fabric conditioner now but I'm too scared to in case it sets it off again. Not very technical advice, but worked for me.

Spray the inside where the dispense draw goes into with bleach, leave it to work, srub with a toothbrush ,then put it on the hottest wash. This should be done monthly.

Thanks, will do both.

How big a scoop of soda crystals, and do they go in the powder drawer?

Would Milton do for a bleach?

If you already have Milton,I would give it a go,if it doesnt work then flash with bleach is what I use.
Word of caution, dont mix bleach and soda crystals,it might cause a chemical reaction.

I just sling a varying amount of soda crystals in the powder dispenser drawer with each wash. Depends what sort of mood I'm in :) And they are relatively inexpensive.
