New bathroom - help!

I need a new bathroom suite, all the tiles (floor to ceiling) removed, floor tiles removed. Fresh and new and shiny!

But!!!! It's our only bathroom, it has in it our only toilet. How is it possible? How long would it be out of action? Where will we wash and, you know, go to the toilet? How much will it cost? I have no idea where to begin, but DH and I are NOT handy at all, do would have to get professionals in.

It would probably take about a week - the toilet could be taken out and replaced straight away.

For showers - we used a watering can full of hot water - soap yourself up in your bikini in the garden pour it over you - tis strangely refreshing!

Tiles - it would probably be easier to tile over the current tile. thats what we had to do as they were literally stuck fast.

We bought stuff from bathstore and used local fitter/plumber - total came to about £2500 - £3000. (we had 2 walls and the ceiling plastered as well as they were tiled floor to ceiling and we didn't want them like that.)

Well that price doesn't sound as bad as I expected! Smile
And the fact that we could only be without a toilet for the day is great!

find someone who can do it to pop round to give you a quote

I think I will. Are they called bathroom fitters or would I also require a plumber? Hmmm... Off to google. My main worry was it taking weeks and being without a toilet and that would appear not I be the case which is great! Smile

We had the bathroom done at our old place a couple of years or so ago. Cost about £6000 I think for everything bar the floor and including lighting. We got everything from the bathstore and tiles were relatively expensive ones (well, for us Wink ) from original style. That included workman to do everything for us - it was a bath with shower attachment, sink and loo. We didn't pick the cheapie suite either and our plumber was quite pricey so imagine you could do it for alot less.

At our current place though we forked out nearly £5000 last year just to get a shower cubicle put in Shock - not even a particularly nice one....so imagine alot is all in who you find and how much they charge (we went with an expensive shop and really regretted it)

Both jobs took nearly a week. We were loo-less for maybe a day.

We used Tesco vouchers at Topps Tiles for our tiles - we got 1/4 of the actual cost. - might be worth looking into?
