well, mine arrived today. Tried it first on the floors-meh. Then changed to hand held and tried it on my hob and extractor fan. Oh yes, it is the business. Have now done my stainless steel kettle and my oven door (glass). It is fabby. Tomorrow I am going to do the shower. I am like a kid at xmas!! Just thought I would share!

Ooh, what kind is it?

I'm lusting after the X5 (?) one that's always on one of the shopping channels. It's a mop & handheld one that I need for cleaning out the mould from the door grooves of my manky shower.

waitingforgodot · 12/07/2012 21:15

thats the one!

Great to hear you're happy with it godot.

Hope you don't mind me asking a few questions -

Does it create a lot of steam? My house is quite damp with condensation most of the time and I worry about any extra humidity.

Does the funny shaped mop head get into corners and round edges well?

Also, please come back and let me know if you try it on the inside of your oven!

I'm saving up for mine now Smile

right, I tried it for the first time last night on bathroom floor tiles. I was a bit hmm. It has 4 steam settings and I started off on the lowest one. Didn't seem to do much so I cranked it up. The mob head does get into corners as it kind of swivels. There is a lot of steam yes but I think it would be fine if you opened window. I did have to top up the water tank constantly though.
So in a nutshell-floor mop is ok but maybe I need more practice as I am not finding it brilliant.
Hand held is however brilliant and I am steaming everything in sight. Will do the shower this afternoon and then will report back on inside of oven once its done!

Yes, it's the handheld bit I'm looking forward to using. I already have a spray mop which I'm very happy with - BUT I think the grout between my floor tiles could do with a good blast of steam (too lazy to scrub!)

The man on the infomercial makes it look so easy..

Just been reading reviews which are mixed - they say it's flimsy and breaks easily Sad

waitingforgodot · 14/07/2012 09:08

I can see how that would happen. Have done my shower today. It is time consuming but does work!

I have watched the advert for it countless times just to see how it works and the nozzle on the handheld bit looks tiny, but as I'm using cotton buds at the moment to get the gunk out of the grooves in my shower cabinet (and it is extremely yuk!), it can't be any slower to clean.

Enjoy your mop Smile

waitingforgodot · 14/07/2012 20:12

the head of the nozzle is tiny so gets into all the grotty bits of the shower. It also comes with a copper wire brush and a normal wee brush head for larger areas! The test will be my oven! Think that will be tomorrow's job. Do you want me to report back?

I'm just eyeing this product up. With 3 children under 5 and 2 cats. I feel my whole house could do with a steam clean. Would you recommend it? I've seen other steam cleaners that have all the attachments but they are much more expensive.

waitingforgodot · 15/07/2012 10:54

only got it this week. Still expected a better mop on my tiles though for the money however the job it did on my shower and hob with the hand held is amazing. Blasted off all the burnt black bits on my hob which you just wipe away. I like the fact that there are no chemicals. Also, have steam cleaned my rug-what a difference.

I bought the Vax steam cleaner. the mop bit is ok for my tiled floors but a bit disappointed with the hand held bit. Tried it on tiles and made no difference.

I bought the Domotec multi-purpose steam cleaner - also a portable/handheld cleaner. It is of excellent quality and very easy to use. It did such a top class job on cleaning all the limescale and mould from our shower unit. It also cleaned the grouting so bathroom looks hygienic once again. They are a brilliant investment. The secrete is to wait for the water to get to the optimal temperature before you use it. I bought mine from Innovation Home Products website on a special www.domotec.com.uk

Would it get spots of mould off grout do you think?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/07/2012 00:19

I've got a steam mop for bathroom/loo/kitchen floor.

And a handheld (Lakeland) the size of a large hair dryer.
Which I use for loads of things-

de- frosting the freezer (carefully)
grouting
round the pesky back of toilet seats
and my guinea-pig cage ( because it's just steam so no nasty chemicals to upset their little noses)

I do use different nozzles for freezer/toilet/cage Blush

roundabout1 · 23/07/2012 21:29

dizzylyn - the Domotec one is it any good on floors? I've looked at their videos but everything is so clean it's hard to tell any improvement!

I am so tempted to get one I even dreamt of one after I fell asleep & woke up in the early hours to the shopping channel & sat watching the x5 advertised for ages, then fell asleep & dreamt of one. My house was so clean in my dream after owning one. Dh says it will be another thing cluttering up the house!

purpleloosestrife · 23/07/2012 21:48
