  • Got mates round
-bored teen needs taking places when no mates round - which will be a lot as away on holiday a lot leaving teen needing complany or lifts. -bth teens will need lift in different dicections and to different counties as school mates spead out. - need to drive dd to pony and back each am an d stay with her a while- when at wwork will do after work as not safe to leave yet as pony new. thus cant do there for ds if needs lift etc

i dont want to be doing too much housework - i have two days off work a week- but at same time need to keep on top of things !!!amongst being busy with work and /or teens .I dont believe in doing everything for them but they will need mates feeding ,sleepovers aranging, lifts as pals not all local.

any suggestion /routine wisw/they dont lie in thought i wd do some organisation when both asleep am but they get up and also saty up till my bedtime too.

If they want lifts, sleepovers etc then they have to earn them by doing chores. It works for me :)

enlist said teens in doing housework - seriously

Emandlu · 12/07/2012 10:12

If they are teens then they can do some of the housework. Or am I missing something?

usualsuspect · 12/07/2012 10:13

Is there no public transport at all?

GetOrfMoiiLand · 12/07/2012 10:14

Yes - they need to contribute.

Give them a set list of jobs. Don't be a martyr. If they huff and puff say you will stop taxiing them around/they are not allowed friends round/they won't get any spending money.

You shouldn't have to do it all.

TheOneWithTheHair · 12/07/2012 10:15

Um get them to do their fair share surely? Especially setting up and clearing away after their sleep overs.

jobs rota for the whole family

UnChartered · 12/07/2012 10:16

are you a lone parent, OP?

no mention of DP being a taxi for your DCs you see

GetOrfMoiiLand · 12/07/2012 10:21

My daughter does as much round the house as the adults who live there - and she has done so since she was about 13.

She cleans the bathrooms every day
Cleans the cars at the weekend
Every other day she hoovers and mops the whole house, and dusts and polishes the sitting room.
Cooks twice a week.

She gets an allowance for this and petrol money - she knows that if she doesn't contribute at home her money will be stopped.

ExitPursuedByABear · 12/07/2012 10:22

What is this housework of which you speak?

WhispersOfWickedness · 12/07/2012 10:41
Confused

Wrt housework, having teens around the house sounds amazing compared to having my two dc under 2.7! Teens don't get under your feet and can do said housework! It'll be a happy (and clean) day in the whispers household when the whisperlets can clean up after themselves Grin

booksinbed · 12/07/2012 10:45

no not lone parerent but dp works out of the area in the day until at least 6 pm...................

Allocate each one a task and rotate it. Believe it or not it did used to work ! The big ones were : washing machine, dishwasher and helping to cook. They all hated the washing one :) Now I just ask them to do something and generally it does get done but not always in the time frame I would like :)

PoppyWearer · 12/07/2012 17:26

Definitely get them to help! I used to help my Mum quite happily in my teens, in return for my allowance and lifts.
